Sophie and Xander are so happy that winter is over and spring is finally here. They didn't get much outdoor play over the winter due to ridiculously low temperatures, and definitely caught a rather severe case of Cabin Fever. It was driving them, and me, absolutely insane.
Now that it's not bone-chilling outside, we have been playing outdoors and taking tons of family walks together. Keeping up with 2 very energetic little ones can be quite the challenge, especially when they like to try and hide to mess with their mommy and daddy. Yes, my kids are mischievous, to say the least. They never wander far, and like to duck behind a tree or bush, just feet away at best. But still, it makes me nervous, nonetheless. I like to be 100% sure I can keep track of my kids at all times. That's why we like squeaky shoes for family walks, time at the park, and riverfront festivals. Sure, squeaking can be annoying, but it can also help keep track of a child's whereabouts in a public place. I like being able to keep my littles within easy reach, and hearing the squeaks next to me is reassuring.
I fell in love with the concept of squeaky shoes when I reviewed Yochi Yochi shoes. (You can check out that review HERE.) Sophie and Xander immediately fell in love with these shoes, too.
Well, recently I learned that Yochi Yochi has rebranded, and ikiki shoes were born. These are as awesome as their predecessors, and then some. They're made from super durable, comfortable materials, and they feature vivid, cheerful characters. Also, and this is the best part, the squeaker can be turned off and on with the simple push of a switch! How cool is that?! This will come in super handy while going to the doctor's office, to the library, or anywhere else that constant squeaking wouldn't be appropriate.
The generous folks at ikiki sent us a couple pairs of these newly redesigned shoes to check out for ourselves. We received the "Mr. Barkles" and "Chairman Meow" styles. How stinkin' cute are they?!
These shoes arrived very quickly, and I was immediately impressed by them. The materials used are soft, cushiony, and definitely very breathable. This makes them ultra-comfy for little feet. They have a convenient velcro closure, and offer good ankle support without any digging in or rubbing. This is a major, major plus. Little feet and painful rubbing don't go together well at all.
Located on the side of the sole is a little switch. This switch controls the squeaking action. With a simple push of the switch, these shoes can go from loud, boisterous fun to perfectly silent in no time flat. The kids can have their fun while the parents maintain control of their sanity. It's a win-win situation.
ikiki shoes are designed for toddlers, but my 4 and 5 year olds are quite small, so they currently fit in the 10 and 11, which are the largest sizes offered. While my kids don't need the extra help learning to walk, they do absolutely love the fun colors, friendly characters, and comfortable fit. Of course, their favorite thing of all is the squeaking.
Overall, we're definitely loving our new and improved shoes from the folks at ikiki. These are incredibly well made, tons of fun, and definitely make walking fun for toddlers and young children. As a mom, I love the fact that I can make the squeaking go away when appropriate or I have had enough. Let's face it: Sometimes we just don't want to hear any noise. Either way, these great shoes are worth checking out now that spring is here.
If your child isn't walking or "toddling" yet, no worries! ikiki also offers some adorable beanies and booties, too!
