One of the things my kids love about the Holiday season is the abundance of tasty treats they get to enjoy. With plenty of candy canes, pies, cakes, and cookies to indulge in, what kid wouldn't be thrilled? On Christmas, we often head out to spend the day with family. This year, we will be going to my husband's aunt and uncle's home where they hold an annual Christmas brunch. There's a ton of great food like creamed chipped beef and buttery biscuits, sausage, and of course bacon. There are also some yummy sweets like Christmas tree cookies and candy to be enjoyed by all. Aside from the 2 hour drive it takes to get there, I couldn't think of a better way to spend Christmas morning. One of the things I plan to bring along to the brunch are the awesome holiday cookies from Smiley Cookies. I recently had the chance to review their Holiday Cookie Gift selection of gingerbread and Christmas tree cookies. My kids were thrilled when they arrived, and couldn't wait to dig in to these cookies. The first thing I noticed about my Smiley Cookies was the great packaging and presentation. They came in a whimsical box covered in colorful, smiley cookies! This box is actually very durable and suitable for gift giving. Inside the box was a package of a dozen large cookies. This gourmet Christmas gift features beautifully made cookies that are definitely big enough to fill hungry little tummies during the Holiday season! Take a look! On top of being completely adorable, these cookies are actually really tasty, too! The first ones we tried were the Christmas Tree cookies. These soft sugar cookies are topped with a fun, green icing. And of course, piped on is a cheerful smile. After all, these are Smiley Cookies! The flavor of the cookie was very good without sending one into sugar overload. They are sweet, but not sickeningly so, even with all of the icing. My husband thinks there's no such thing as a dessert being too sweet, but I have a very different take on the issue. I am actually not a big fan of sweets in general, and often find that a lot of cookies are too sweet for my tastes. This wasn't the case at all with the Christmas Tree cookies. They had a wonderfully balanced flavor that was not too sweet but not bland, either. I really enjoyed them, and so did my kids. The next ones we tried were the Gingerbread cookies. I happen to love gingerbread, since they have a bit of spicy kick to them. These cookies were also quite large and featured the same happy smile as the Christmas Tree cookies. I really liked the flavor of these cookies as well. The gingery flavor was spot on, and again, there was no sugar overkill. These are wonderful paired with a nice mug of hot cocoa! I wasn't sure if my toddler would like the more grown-up flavor of gingerbread, but she did. In fact, she ate 2 of them! My 11 year old son loved them, too. Overall, I was quite pleased with my cookies from Smiley Cookie. They were big, had a wonderful flavor and consistency, and would definitely make any kid happy this Holiday season. They'd also make a great Christmas Cookie gift! SPECIAL OFFER: If you become a fan of Smiley Cookie on Facebook, you will receive a coupon for 20% off any of their Holiday cookie gifts and baskets! How cool is that?! I know I will be taking advantage of this offer! My kids are already asking for more Smiley Cookies! I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
