***Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for RadioShack. I received a gift card to facilitate a shopping trip and promotional item as a thank you for participating.*** Ladies, let's face it: Shopping for guys can be hard. Whether it's a teen or a fully grown man, the males of our species have very particular tastes, especially when it comes to technology. You know the old saying, "Boys love their toys, and they just get bigger and more expensive when they grow up"? Well, in my home at least, this is the absolute truth. You see, I have not only a soon-to-be 14 year old son to shop for, I also have a 36 year old...Not my child, of course, as that would be physically impossible...My 36 year old "boy" is my husband. Both my son, Kyle, and my hubby, Dan, love anything electronic. Tablets, sound systems, Smart Phones, RC toys, you name it....They both are basically obsessed. Last night, we decided to pay a visit to the RadioShack in Cleveland Heights, Ohio to do some Christmas shopping. We have a RadioShack right down the street, but the Cleveland Heights location on Mayfield Road is newly redesigned, so we were eager to see what changes have been made. Plus, they just happened to be on the way to my Grandma's house, who lives right on Lake Erie. When we arrived at RadioShack, we were delighted to see that it wasn't packed full of crazed shoppers, like the big box stores tend to be during the Holiday season. In fact, we were the only ones there for the first 20 minutes we were there! The store was extremely clean, well-stocked, and well-organized. This made for easy browsing. The first thing I looked at were the Smartphones RadioShack carries. I have been toying with the idea of maybe getting Kyle a phone. He is in 8th grade and stays pretty busy, and I like the idea of staying connected at all times. RadioShack had all the hottest brands and models, including the iPhone. They also have several different options, including no contract plans. I think Kyle would absolutely love this Samsung Galaxy S III! And at RadioShack, you can score this baby for free when signing up for qualifying plans from carriers like Verizon and Sprint. RadioShack also had some great robotic toys that would be wonderful gifts for older kids ages 8+. I know a few little boys in my neighborhood alone who have been asking Santa for Zibits! One of the items on my own Holiday wish list would have to be a new camera. I am totally jealous of all the bloggers with the fancy DSLR cameras. Sadly, I cannot even remotely afford one at this time, so I have been looking for a good quality compact camera. RadioShack offers a lot of options from brands like Canon and Nikon. I really want one of the Canon Rebel models....Sigh...Maybe one day! One of the neatest things we found at this newly revved-up location is the wall dedicated to music lovers. Here you'll find some nice, budget-friendly music players, speakers and accessories, and even some of the hottest headphones on the market. I love the look of these SOL headphones, especially in the red color. Maybe I will have to swing back by and pick up a pair after the Holidays! I would have purchased a pair during our visit, but my husband had other ideas... So I decided I would be nice and get a gift for him. Ultimately, we ended up purchasing an AUVIO SBT32210 32" 2.1 Soundbar with Bluetooth. My husband has been complaining about our Cerwin Vega speakers for quite some time now...One of the sub-woofers is toast, so the overall sound quality of our TV has been lacking. Dan was thrilled to find this on sale for only $99.99, and has already set it up in our home. He just couldn't wait until Christmas morning! Overall, I was definitely impressed with our RadioShack shopping experience. I loved the sleek new look of the store, and I can't wait till they redesign a location a bit closer to my home. My only complaint? The staff seemed to be a little distracted and we had to track the associates down to get help. Once we got their attention, though, they were very knowledgeable and helped us find the best product for our money. I would definitely visit again, and I would recommend RadioShack for your Holiday shopping needs. Be sure to check out one of the newly renovated RadioShack stores for your holiday shopping. By the end of 2013, RadioShack will have more than 100 concept and brand statement stores open and will have made improvements to nearly all 4,300 stores throughout the nation. So far, close to 2,000 stores have completed a reset with new paint and interior signage updating to current brand standards. These stores feature bright, completely redesigned interior and new exterior signage bearing the new RadioShack logo. All stores recently completed a merchandise update designed to deliver a better shopping experience and make room for new products in growing categories. They even have an awesome Speaker Wall that allows customers to try out the many speakers before they buy! How cool is that?! How to Connect :You can check out all the wonderful Holiday deals RadioShack has to offer at the RadioShack Holiday Hub
Have you visited one of the newly renovated RadioShack locations? What did you like the best about the new design?
