Before I became a mother, I didn't really think much about the environment and how the use of everyday products can have an impact on our planet, as well as our lives. Perhaps it was because I was young and naive. But when I became a mom, something changed. I started thinking about how I, as a parent, could encourage better, healthier lives for my children, as well as for future generations. One of the things that became painfully obvious is that all of the chemicals, additives, hormones, etc that are found in everyday products and even food were doing much more harm than good. Toxic chemicals end up on household surfaces, on clothing, and are even ingredients found in personal care products, like soaps, shampoos, and even laundry detergents and household cleaners. Therefore, our kids are exposed to these harmful substances every single day. Some of these substances are even linked to serious health risks! So I started making some serious changes in my own life to help protect the environment and teach my children that going green is a better option for the future. We use eco-friendly cleaners and detergents, we cloth-diaper, and we buy locally grown and/or organic foods whenever possible. We also reuse anything that we can. Old t-shirts? They make wonderful cloth wipes! Egg cartons? They make great planters! A cardboard shipping box? Well, my kids make them into forts and playhouses! When I heard that Seventh Generation, the nation’s leading brand of household and personal care products that help protect human health and the environment, was teaming up with Universal's The Lorax, I couldn't have been more excited. The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, for those who aren't familiar with the story, is a wonderful yet cautionary tale about how if nobody takes a stand to help the environment, there will be nothing left on the planet for future generations to enjoy. The Lorax is a wonderful teaching tool that will help people, young and old alike, become aware of the plight our Earth is facing. The story is about the destruction of the Truffula Trees. The Lorax gets frustrated that all the trees have been chopped down to make the Thneeds (which no one really needs). As he leaves his home, his final message: “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” This is exactly what Seventh Generation stands for. I am already a fan of Seventh Generation's product line. I use their household cleaners all the time. I recently got the opportunity to try their 4X Laundry Detergent as well. I was excited to try this new formula, since I already love their 2X detergent! What makes the Seventh Generation 4X Laundry Detergent so special? Well, it offers the same great cleaning power of conventional detergents without all of the chemicals, brighteners, synthetic fragrances, and dyes. This naturally-derived formula uses a multiple enzyme system that attacks even the toughest stains while remaining kind to human health and the environment. It's even hypo-allergenic and safe for those with sensitive skin! Even the packaging is green! This powerful 4X formula is packaged in an innovative recyclable (even compostable) bottle, made from 100% recycled fiber. The entire packaging system (fiber bottle, pouch, spout and cap) system uses 66% less plastic than a typical 100 oz. 2X laundry bottle – while delivering the same number of loads. Since we have 5 people in my home, I was able to try out the 4X Laundry Detergent right away. It seems that something always needs washing around here! I have an HE Machine, and Seventh Generation Detergents are compatible with it. So I rounded up some of the dirtiest laundry I could find: My husband's stinky socks and my preteen son's laundry. It must be a guy thing, but their laundry is always the worst! After I washed their clothing using the Seventh Generation 4X Laundry Detergent, I noticed that all of the stains, dirt, and mud were gone. The clothing appeared to be incredibly clean, and it even smelled nice and fresh! Since this detergent uses natural, essential oils for fragrance, I didn't have to worry about what may have been left behind. Overall, I was definitely pleased with the performance of this detergent. It is effective, removes tough stains and odors, and is environmentally friendly. As a mom, this is something I can feel good about. I may be one person, in one family, but I can help plant the seeds of environmental awareness in my own children. After all, the Lorax says, "You're in charge of the last of the Truffula Seeds. And Truffula Trees are what everyone needs." Seventh Generation and Dr. Seuss' The Lorax have joined forces to inspire families to conserve the earth's resources with conscious consumption. If every U.S. household replaced just one bottle of 50 oz. 4X concentrate petroleum-based laundry liquid with Seventh Generation's 50 oz. 4X concentrate plant-derived product, we could save enough oil to heat and cool 15,700 U.S. homes for a year. Make a difference by choosing high-quality and effective products from Seventh Generation, now offering free shipping for any purchase over $50!As the Lorax says,"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Seventh Generation. The opinions and text are all mine. Official Sweepstakes Rules. Comments are closed.
