![]() I have a confession to make: I HATE my hair...It's super-long, super-thick, and super-wavy. As a matter of fact, if it weren't so thick, I am convinced it would be curly. I didn't get that lucky, though. I get complimented on my hair a lot, actually, but these kind words come from people who don't have to deal with it on a daily basis. The truth is, I never even attempt much more than a messy bun or a ponytail because 1: I have babies. Babies LOVE pulling hair, and their tiny little fingers feel like rubber bands tugging.(Ouch!) 2: My hair is very difficult to style. I have a TON of hair, and due to the thickness and the waviness, it is very hard to get it to hold a style for any extended period of time. If I try and curl it, it falls flat due to the weight of my long hair. And straightening it? Well that can be an all-day affair, because I usually need to go over each section several times for it to be effective. And let's face it: Heat styling tools can be very damaging, even with a protectant, if it has to be repeated many times to get the desired results. I had pretty much accepted that I would never be able to do anything with my hair no matter how hard I tried. And I can't afford to visit a salon as much as I would like, so ponytails and buns it is! Until I discovered Flat Iron Experts, that is! It turns out, while my hair IS difficult to manage, a good part of my problem has been that I have not been using the right styling tools! Sure, I had a flat iron, but it was a model you can readily find at any WalMart or CVS for under $50.00. I had always assumed that all flat irons were pretty much created equal. Okay, to an extent. I assumed that because my old flat iron had ceramic, it would be just as good as the pricier models. I'll be the first to admit when I am wrong, and guess what? Boy, was I WRONG! I received a KQC X-Heat Tourmaline Ceramic 1" Flat Iron for review from Flat Iron Experts, a leading online beauty shop that specializes in hair care and styling products. Here is some of the more technical information regarding this KQC flat iron, taken from the Flat Iron Experts website, since they are in fact EXPERTS and can explain the science behind this product far better than I can! KQC X-Heat Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron: KQC X-Heat Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Irons have been rated one of the Best Flat Iron on the market and preferred by top hair stylists around the world. KQC flat irons has been featured in countless magazines and press including Salon Magazine, Fashion Magazine, In Style, Canadian Hairdressers, BEAT 94.5, Vancouver Sun, Vancouver Province and more. With KQC X-Heat you can straighten, flip, curl and tame frizzy or rebellious hair for long-lasting results. Equipped with a ultra powerful Korean Ceramic Heaters that provides precise and stable temperature. Heating up to 410 F in less than 30 seconds. You just can't go wrong with the KQC X-HEAT recommended with 100% confidence by Flat Iron Experts. Tourmaline / Ceramic Technology: KQC X-Heat Tourmaline Ceramic Hair Straighteners distributes heat across the entire surface evenly, retains heat more efficiently, and eliminates damaging hot spots. Ceramic emits a natural source of negative ions and far infrared heat that helps your hair. 1. Preserve more moisture within the hair shaft. 2. Eliminates frizz and close the cuticle to create smooth and shiny hair. 3. Causes less damage to the hair cuticle during styling. Negative Ion Technology: Negative ions are atoms that can stop the growth of bacteria, fungi, etc., resulting in healthier hair and scalp. Negative ion energy is powerful enough to break apart clusters of water molecules. The smaller water molecules penetrate into the hair shaft by slipping between the cuticles, adding plumpness/volume to hair. The bombardment of negative ions also closes the hair cuticle, which is very good for the health and appearance of the hair. Far Infrared Heat : Far Infrared (FIR) rays are electro-magnetic waves of energy, totally invisible to the naked eye, capable of penetrating deep into the human body, including the hair shaft. It therefore dries the hair from the inside out. The result is that more moisture remains in the hair shaft and there is less damage to the hair. I have to admit, I was skeptical to say the least. I did not expect this flat iron to be any better than what I have been accustomed to using in the past. I had heard a lot of buzz regarding KQC flat irons in magazines and even from friends who are hairdressers. But could it tame MY hard to manage mane? Hmm...Well, I put this baby to the test! I washed and conditioned my hair and let it air-dry rather than blow-drying with a round brush. This way, my hair would be super-wavy and ready to go up against the KQC X-Heat! Here is my hair BEFORE using this product: I think the results speak for themselves. This flat iron is downright amazing! Usually it would take me well over an hour to straighten my hair. And I am used to using a much wider flat iron that accommodates much larger sections of hair than the KQC X-Heat Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron. But I achieved these fantastic results in LESS than a half hour! WOW! Just imagine if I had actually taken more time to perfect it! (I would have styled it, too, but the babies woke up and Mommy Time was over!) ![]() The generous folks at Flat Iron Experts also sent me this KQC Thermal Shine heat protector to help protect my hair and give it a blast of shine while using the X-Heat flat iron. I have used a lot of thermal protectants, and this one is by far the best. It smells rather pleasant, and it really does give hair a beautiful luster! I will say, a little goes a LONG way. The first time I attempted to use this, I applied far too much and it did make my hair feel a bit greasy. All you need is a very light mist of this product. Trust me, a tiny bit is more than enough, and your hair will thank you! When using this Thermal Shine along with my KQC X-Heat Flat Iron, my hair looked and felt amazing. It was comparable to the way my hair feels after getting a professional blowout at a salon. Soft, shiny, bouncy, and HEALTHY! No more dried, damaged hair due to heat styling! KQC has thought of it all, and make superior styling products that won't fry your hair. Gotta love that, right?! Overall, I think EVERY woman NEEDS this flat iron. Yes, it is expensive. At a sale price of $159.95, it is an investment. (Regular retail is $249.95.) But I have learned the hard way that you truly DO get what you pay for as far as flat-irons are concerned. And if you think about it, the cost of this styling tool is a small investment when you consider the amount of money you can save by achieving salon quality results in the comfort of your own home! Buying a KQC flat iron could potentially save you THOUSANDS of dollars over the life of the product. And this product will save you time, too! As a mom, time is something I have very little of to spare. I don't have the time to pamper myself. Since this product works so incredibly well, I was able to achieve fabulous looking hair in a fraction of the time I would have to spend while using lesser quality products. All in all, this product is a MUST HAVE! Many thanks to Flat Iron Experts for showing me how awesome my pain-in-the-butt hair can look just by upgrading my styling tools! Who knew?! Needless to say, my old flat-iron will be listed on Freecycle and re-homed. I won't be needing it anymore. Good riddance! I will be a KQC enthusiast from here on out!
