With toddlers that are only 12 months apart in age, a decent, lightweight, side by side double stroller has been on my wish list for quite some time now. Not having one has made it incredibly difficult to go to the park, run errands, or do much of anything outside of the house. I do baby-wear, but my toddlers are beginning to resist this, as they want to be able to move around and see the world around them a bit more freely. So baby-wearing is something we reserve for times when they're sleepy or feeling a bit more on the snuggly side.

We used to have a HUGE, heavy, and very bulky double stroller that was not only hard to maneuver, but hard to lift as well. I could barely muscle this monstrosity into the trunk, and it left almost no space for anything else. (And my car actually has a gigantic trunk for a sedan!) The other thing I really hated about it was that it was not a side by side stroller. My toddlers prefer sitting next to one another and being able to converse in their own brand of "baby babble".

Now I don't know about you, but I have priced double strollers, and I have to admit, there has been some serious sticker shock! As a 1 income family of 5, I can't really afford to shell out several hundred dollars on a stroller. I didn't need all of the bells and whistles some models offer, either. What I was really hoping to find was an economical, lightweight, basic side by side model that was comfortable for my littles and wouldn't take up a ton of room when collapsed. Durability, dependability, and safety are also absolute musts for me.

That's why I was so excited when I discovered the LX Side x Side Stroller made by Delta Children's Products. This is a lightweight, umbrella-style side by side stroller that is easy to use, comfortable, and even fits through standard doorways! (Thank goodness for that! I have heard horror stories about strollers not fitting through entry ways!)

Here are some of the features of the LX Side x Side Stroller:

  • Lightweight frame
  • Parent cup holder with 2 attachment points
  • 2 hanging storage bags
  • Each side can hold 35lbs
  • Compact umbrella fold for easy storage and travel
  • Fits through a standard 30-inch wide doorway opening
  • 3-point harness, with optional 5-point securing!
  • Durable sport color fabric
  • Large European-style canopy
  • Multiple-position reclining seats
  • 360 degree swivel front wheels with shock absorbers
  • JPMA certified and meets all ASTM standards
  • Conforms to all applicable CPSC standards
  • Available colors: Orange gray or Gray with green highlights

So when the awesome folks at Delta agreed to send me one of these to review, I was beyond thrilled. This stroller sounded absolutely perfect, and I was eager to see if it met my already high expectations!

We received this stroller in the fun Lime Green color. This is great since I have both a boy and a girl. Normally, we're forced to choose single colored gear in gray or black, so I appreciate the nice bright pop of color that this stroller features.

The LX Side x Side is very lightweight, compact, and easy to fold and unfold. It opens up with the simple pull of a lever on the side that securely holds the stroller shut. Folding it back up is just as simple!

And, it's very modern and sleek looking. The fabric used on this stroller is a durable, sport-like fabric. It also features shoulder pads for added comfort. My soon to be 3 year old doesn't like these on "her" side, so we removed them. However, Xander is nowhere near as picky as his big sister, and heloves them, so we left his intact. Take a look!

Here's the back. (Yes, my babies LOVE this stroller and wouldn't let me get pics without them exploring!)

There are also durable yet flexible foot rests on each side.

The wheels have 360 degree swivel as well as shock absorbers for a smooth ride.

There are 2 decently sized storage pockets for any snacks, toys, or supplies.

A parent cup-holder makes it easy to stroll while enjoying that coffee or hot cocoa!

When folded, this stroller is very, very compact. Smaller than one of our single strollers, in fact!
My babies absolutely adore their Delta LX Side x Side. As a matter of fact, they actually like sitting in it while in the house! They will ask for their stroller and a movie. No joke. Maybe they think it feels like movie theater seating somehow! That just proves that this stroller is quite comfortable for little ones. As a mom, my babies' comfort is very important.

No, he isn't buckled in here. He actually climbed up in it as I was preparing to take pics of the stroller itself!

Here they are, happy as can be!
Last weekend, we ventured out with our Delta LX Side x Side when we went to the IX-Center Trick or Treat Street Halloween event. The weather was incredibly nasty here, so we opted for indoor fun rather than taking 2 toddlers out in icy cold rain. (Can you blame me?!)

We noticed that this stroller was very easy to maneuver. We had no problems with sticking wheels while making sharp turns, and the handles are very comfortable to grip. We were even able to hang our diaper bag and my purse on the handles and the stroller remained completely stable.

The kids were a bit tired from the hour long car ride to the event, so they spent a great deal of time in the stroller. Poor Xander was too short for many of the rides, so he was in it most of the time. Much to my delight, they really didn't get antsy at all, and were happy to be pushed around in the Delta LX Side x Side.

Poor Xander! He was too short for the rides! At least he had a comfy place to watch from!
Overall, I am very impressed by the Delta LX Side x Side stroller. It's very sturdy and durable, and it is much-loved by my kids. While they love the comfy ride, I love the fact that it's lightweight, user-friendly, and super compact. I actually have room in my trunk for groceries! Good looks help too, of course! Not to mention the fact that at under $100, it's extremely affordable. I would definitely recommend this stroller to any family out there looking for exceptional quality at an affordable price. Good job, Delta!
