Whew...It's late at night and my family is asleep, and I just worked up quite a sweat using a fantastic new workout program I found online. I chose night time to do this routine because it's the one time that no one is demanding my attention. As a mom of 3 kids, two of which are well under the age of 2, it's sometimes hard to find time to take care of ME. I always have diapers to change, babies to snuggle, housework to do, meals to cook, homework to help with, and the list goes on and on....
I have had 2 cesareans in the past 16 months, and they have left my body in less than desirable condition. I am not overweight, but I could definitely use some toning and I would still like to lose about 15 more pounds in order to feel good about my appearance. I eat healthy...well, most of the time...but for some reason, I can't seem to shake the last bit of weight that I'd so desperately like to lose.
My weight is something I have struggled with my whole life. My all time high weight was about 185lbs right after having my daughter. I am now 142lbs, well within the healthy weight range for my height and frame. My goal weight is 125lbs, since anything less and I would look sickly, as I do not have a tiny frame. I have hips and boobs and am meant to be on the curvier end of the spectrum. (Darn genetics!)
In order to be successful in achieving my ideal weight, I know how important it is to incorporate exercise into my lifestyle. No amount of dieting will tone, nor will it burn a significant amount of fat. That's where exercise comes into play. In order to effectively strengthen muscles and burn fat, you need a good cardio workout. You need to get the blood pumping and work up a good sweat to optimize your body's fat-burning potential.
I am loving this new workout routine, created by a woman, for women! This is workout that targets burning fat by doing short cardio intervals mixed with strength exercises. The workout targets full body and you get at the same time aerobic workout and full body workout. Let me tell you, I could definitely feel the burn during this workout, yet it wasn't too difficult for a fitness newbie like me to keep up with. This workout, Cardio Workout with Strength Exercises consist of 3 circuits, each containing 6 exercises. The length of workout is following:
warm up - 4 minutes
cardio workout - 25 minutes
stretching: 7 minutes
I could especially feel the burn in my abs, butt, and thighs. These happen to be my "problem areas". I have no butt, and I would love to build up my gluteal muscles so it's more firm and noticeable, and I have the dreaded belly-pooch, or as I call it, my "wobbly-bits" that I won't even let my husband touch. I guess that's to be expected after back-to-back pregnancies, but it doesn't mean I like it being there. I am hoping that this workout will help me lose some of the excess fat on my lower abdominals and also help me firm up some. After feeling the initial burn, I have high hopes!
I loved the pace of this workout, and feel that it is something I can include in my day-to-day life, as the entire workout routine is only 36 minutes long. Most people spend at least that amount of time per day watching TV. So why not set the DVR to record and get moving? The only thing to lose is that stubborn flab, and you have a slimmer, healthier body to look forward to! Plus, this was FUN! (And I NEVER say exercise is fun,lol)
This is a workout that anyone can do, that can fit into even the most hectic of schedules. So if you have some extra padding you'd like to shed to be in better shape for beach season, please check this routine out. I really enjoyed it, and I think you will, too! And I am willing to bet that if you stick with it, as I plan to, you'll start noticing results within a few weeks! Hello, bikini! Well...Maybe not...Not for me...I'm not that brave.
