(At least it is if you're like me and get an early start to avoid the mad rush of frazzled, last-minute shoppers in December!) For the 2014 Holiday season, I will be featuring tons of great gift ideas for babies, kids, men, women, pets, and even for the person who has everything. We all have some of those on our gift lists, don't we? There will even be loads and loads of chances to win many of the gifts I am featuring. How cool is that?! You can check out my 2014 Holiday Gift Guide at any time from now till Christmas. Make sure to check often, as it will be growing by the day! Today, I want to talk about a classic. Actually, a new spin on a classic! As you all probably know, Radio Flyer has been around for generations. My parents had Radio Flyer growing up, I had Radio Flyer, and now my kids do, too. No Holiday is ever complete without a shiny red wagon or trike under the tree. In fact, seeing a shiny red wagon with the Radio Flyer logo on it was probably one of my favorite childhood memories. No matter how old you get, you never forget your first Radio Flyer. Gotta love companies who stand the test of time. Seeing my kids in their classic red wagon makes me feel all mushy and nostalgic inside! While classic Radio Flyer wagons are still all the rage, I would LOVE to share a great modern twist on this favorite. With the Radio Flyer Build-A-Wagon, you can customize your own wagon, literally designing it from the wheels up. You can choose different body styles, different types of canopies and seat covers in various prints, and you can even add convenient extras, like an extra large storage bag or even an mp3 speaker system. There are over 150+ possible combinations, all customized especially for YOU. Pretty awesome, right? Recently, I had the opportunity to check out this awesome product. It was SO hard to decide what kind of wagon we wanted, since there were so many different options available. Ultimately, I enlisted the help of Sophie and Xander, and I let them choose the features that they most wanted in their "Dream Wagon." We chose a modern style, plastic body. This is merely because my kids are absolutely terrible about making sure things are put away, and the plastic won't weather like a wooden-bodied wagon would. At least that was our logic behind that decision! We wanted the upgraded Air tires, but they were out of stock. The Classic wheels are also quite durable, and would be great for most any terrain. I was actually pretty delighted to find that even the less substantial set of wheels were built to be used, and used often. So, upgrade the wheels if you'd like, but the Classic design will serve you just fine, too. One thing we really love about this wagon is that the seats can be folded down into a flat surface. This is suitable for eating a snack on the go, creating a make-shift stuffed animal triage center, or even a creative place to take a nap. (Yes, my kids have slept in the wagon. In the living room. With a couch 5 feet away.) Of course wagons are made to be moving, so the seats can easily be flipped up for conveniently comfortable seating. Seats can face each other, or they can be facing opposite directions. The flexibility really comes in handy when Xander decides he wants to kick Sophie. There are dual seat belts to help keep little ones in their seats where they belong, too. My little ones love to ride in comfort and style, so of course they wanted to get a pair of the seat pads in the Whirl pattern. They chose the same pattern for the large UV Canopy as well. (If you would rather have smaller, dual canopies, you can choose that option, too!) I just love the modern, circular design in this gender-neutral print. It's fun, yet sophisticated. The kiddos like it, too! But as a Mom, the thing I love most about the seat pads is the storage. Yep, the folks at Radio Flyer think about Mom and Dad, too! On the back of each seat pad are various pockets. One has a larger pouch, which can hold boogie-wipes, sanitizer, and other must-haves. On the other seat pad are 2 convenient pockets to hold cell phones, keys, or other, similarly sized essentials. We also chose to add on an extra large storage bag. This generously sized bag attaches right to the wagon, and offers tons of room for anything you could possibly need. Stuffed animals, spare clothing, beach gear, purses, diapers, wipes, Jimmy Hoffa's body...Chances are, you can make it fit into this roomy compartment. When it's not in use, the bag can be "snapped down", making it much more compact and flush against the wagon. Trust me, folks, add the storage bag. You'll thank me later! Seat pads, a storage bag fit for any excursion, a snazzy UV canopy....This has literally everything we could have wanted in a wagon. It even has places to hold your drinks! This is wonderful for active families on the go! And of course, the kiddos are absolutely thrilled with "their creation". Check out Sophie, braving the icky, Ohio rain for a quick trip around the block. Xander was no fool, and he wanted to stay inside, sipping hot cocoa with his Daddy. I can't say I blame him, since I am not a fan of cold, either! Overall, we are definitely head-over-heels in love with our Radio Flyer Build-A-Wagon. The design process was easy and loads of fun, and we loved the fact that we were able to preview our design on the Radio Flyer website before ordering. We tweaked it several times, with different options, until we had created the wagon that was just right for our family. Shipping was super-fast, too. We had our custom-designed wagon within a few short days of placing our order. Assembly was quick and painless, which is always a plus. And of course, the quality and durability is absolutely fantastic. But, coming from the folks at Radio Flyer, would you really expect anything less? If you are looking for the coolest, most unique wagon in the neighborhood, definitely check out the Build-A-Wagon from Radio Flyer.
