![]() Before I get into my review of the super-awesome NeoCell Collagen Sport, I want to clear something up. I know what you're thinking....Okay, at least what those who know me in "real life" are thinking...I can almost hear a collective shout saying "Brandy, but you don't play any sports!" This is very true. At 31 years old I am not as active as I'd like to be, or have been in the past. (Although I sincerely believe that chasing 2 toddlers and 3 dogs around should be an Olympic event. If it were, I know I would take home some major bling.) While I don't actively participate in any sports now, I have done so extensively in the past. Whether it be swimming, martial arts (yup, this mama is a dangerous weapon!) or even being a forward on the basketball team, I have always tried to be as active as possible. Now that I have toddlers, a preteen, and a home to take care of, I simply don't have the time for organized sports and my exercise comes in the form of housework or taking a walk/jog through the neighborhood. If I am lucky and no one is around to point and laugh and see all my wobbly bits jiggle, I also have some excellent workout DVDs. I am a firm believer that exercise should be FUN, so I am not ashamed to say I break out some off-the- wall, high energy Richard Simmons DVDs! I know he's known as a weight loss guru, but his workouts are a ton of fun and keep you laughing. They're wonderful even if you're a healthy weight like I am. Recently, my workouts have been a little more grueling. You see, we just moved from Virginia to my hometown in Ohio. The past week or so has been spent cleaning, unpacking, moving furniture, and lifting heavy boxes and taking them to their appropriate rooms. Add to that the fact that we're still not sleeping in our own bed because we need to purchase a box fan for our attic room, and you can imagine how stiff and sore my muscles have been lately. This is where NeoCell comes to the rescue. I have been a big fan of NeoCell for quite some time now. I love their 3 part beauty system, and I also love their skincare products! Plus, Jean over at NeoCell is an absolute pleasure to work with! To a blogger, this matters a lot! So I am sure you're wondering: Who is Neocell? They are a small, research grounded family owned business that had the goal of introducing to the world the anti-aging and overall health benefits of a naturally- sourced collagen based supplement line. All of Neocell’s health, wellness and anti-aging products are doctor-formulated and offer the highest quality and precise combination of ingredients to maximize health and wellness benefits for consumers of all ages. Neocell’s products are manufactured in their own GMP certified facility in California and guarantee the highest quality and safety manufacturing standards, meeting the needs of regulators world-wide. Today, NeoCell is one of the top-selling brands in health food stores, and a leader in the fields of nutritional science and methods development. And while the company has grown considerably over the 13 years, one thing has never changed – their commitment to finding innovative and effective anti-aging nutraceutical supplements. This time around, I got to try their best-selling Collagen Sport. This is a protein shake mix that ultilizes gentle whey protein. This nutritional supplement combines 2 must-have ingredients, especially as we age: Protein and Collagen! It's no secret that protein is imperative for good muscle health. I try and eat a lot of high protein foods, such as beans, chicken, and beef. Collagen Sport packs a whopping 30g of protein per serving! Why include Collagen? Simple! It's the glue that holds the body together! We naturally produce collagen, and this helps our joints, hair, nails, and even our organs in tip top shape. After around the age of 25, our supply of Collagen starts to diminish some. This is how wrinkles happen and tired, aching joints occur. One great way to maintain a youthful look and feeling is to take a Collagen supplement. It really does make a HUGE difference! I can attest to this from personal experience. Another great thing about Collagen Sport is that it can fit into any diet seamlessly. Collagen Sport contains:
But what makes NeoCell Collagen Sport so much different than most protein shakes is that it provides a unique,“4 in 1″ benefit: Refuel: It’s a whey protein isolate and rich in BCAAs. Recover : Super Collagen® 1&3 supports recovery, strength, and flexibility of muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Regenerate : containing L-glutamine, which drives nitrogen into muscle cells for muscle synthesis. Replenish : Collagen Sport is an excellent source of daily vitamins and minerals. It also contains the antioxidant power of Pomegranate extract. Collagen Sport comes in a generously sized canister. Inside is the powder mix as well as a convenient scoop to ensure you always use just the right amount of product. I received the French Vanilla flavor, and I have to say, the taste surprised me. You see, this product is not sweet. It has a nice, natural vanilla flavor, but no sugar added to sweeten it. Mixed with water as suggested, I did not care for the taste. However, it's fantastic in soy or almond milk! It's even really yummy mixed in coconut milk! Added to these types of drinks, it almost tastes like a vanilla milkshake. Let me also add that this product dissolves very easily, and doesn't have the grainy, gritty texture a lot of other nutritional shakes have. It also has no nasty aftertaste. This earns NeoCell a ton of brownie points from this gal! There's nothing worse than feeling like you're drinking sand. While this is traditionally used as a shake, I have been using this product in other ways, too. It's great mixed into oatmeal, yogurt, and even peanut butter! I have even added this powder to muffin batter for a protein packed breakfast. NeoCell Collagen Sport is very, very versatile. Since the flavor is quite subtle, it complements other much-loved staples very well. Collagen Sport is a great way to get that extra protein into your diet painlessly, and it's also an effective way to manage sore muscles. This is great news if you're an athlete, like Kayla Harrison. Kayla is not only an Ohio gal like me, she also just took home a Gold Medal in Judo! (GO TEAM USA!) Kayle uses NeoCell Collagen Sport to stay at the top of her game. Obviously, it's been working well for her! Want to learn more?
