***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review. No other compensation has been provided, and all opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** Do you love nail polish? I know I do. I actually have a pretty large stockpile of the stuff, including a few bottles I have had since I was a teenager, about a zillion years ago. I should probably throw those ones out, come to think about it....That's on my to-do list for tomorrow. I doubt nail polish that's 15 years old is any good anymore. Anyway, I love the pop of color that nail polish gives any look. You can be delicate and demure with nude shades and different shades of pink and other pastels. You can be sultry and seductive with crimson hues. Or, you can be bold and daring by wearing any shade of the rainbow, sometimes multiple colors to a hand. Nail polish is just plain fun like that! If you love vibrant, fun colors as much as I do, you'll be happy to know that the folks at Sinful Colors have recently launched new lines of colors for summer! Their Silk + Satin and Full Throttle lines offer gorgeous shades in a literal rainbow of color options. I received a few shades from each collection to check out for myself. I was excited, since I have heard amazing things about this brand but somehow, hadn't ever tried any of their products. How is that even possible?! I dunno. So being a Sinful Colors virgin, I knew I was in for a treat. From the Silk + Satin line, I chose the Matte About You, a dark blue matte-finish polish, Real Teal, a shimmery polish with hints of blues and greens, and Solar Flux, a vibrant, sunny yellow. From the Full Throttle collection, I chose the Race Rubber, a very dark red with a matte finish, Red Tired, a bright matte-finish red, and Rain Rubber, a very pretty almost sky blue, also with a matte finish. I have color coded the names to the appropriate shades below for your convenience. Now before I get into my nail polish review and tell you all about how awesome Sinful Colors is, I want to tell you a story. When my nail polish arrived, my 14 year old, Kyle immediately got excited. He noticed that I had a wonderful selection of Sinful Colors in almost perfect rainbow colors. My son is gay, and finally, he is out and proud. He loves to display that pride in his own appearance. This thrills me as a parent, since this means he is finally accepting himself and no longer thinks he's worthless because he's gay. Can you believe that? My baby thought he was less of a human being because of his sexual preference. That broke my heart, and I just couldn't take watching my son sink into a depression any longer. Our solution? We moved from Virginia to Ohio to help him escape the incessant bullying and torment at school. He was picked on relentlessly, and the schools never did anything about it. My son was depressed, and was very ashamed of who he is. He even told me he thought "God made him wrong" and that he "didn't deserve love". Yep. Totally broke my heart. I knew he was gay since he was about 4, but I have loved him since before he was born. I will love him forever, whether he's gay, straight, bi, etc. None of that matters to me. What matters is that he grow to be a kind, caring and genuine human being who cares about others and treats others with kindness. As long as he is happy, I am happy. I am just SO proud of him for having the courage to be himself, as colorful and unique as he is. Of course, being the proud mama that I am, when Kyle asked if he could give me a "Rainbow Pride" Mani, I agreed right away. What a fun, colorful idea for summer, as well as a great way to show pride in my gay teen. Kyle nervously painted my nails using colors from the new Sinful Colors collections. His hand wobbled some and there are some definite sloppy spots, but hey, my 14 year old boy has absolutely no experience with nail polish. Eyeliner and hair chalk are a completely different story. As you can see, these colors are bright and offer an opaque finish. Some of them have a unique, rubberized texture, which is definitely something completely new to me. I kinda like it! This is 2 coats of each shade. The brush is easy to use and doesn't cause huge blobs of polish to disperse. With careful application, this polish applies in a very even, blob-free coat. Yes, I know...Kinda sloppy, but this is my son's work and he wanted to take the pictures right away. After cleaning my nails up a bit with some nail polish remover and a cotton swab, they looked much better. I just wanted to show off my son's work, since he was pretty proud of himself. Overall, I am definitely loving Sinful Colors and plan to buy a lot more of their nail polish the next time I go on a cosmetic shopping spree. The colors are amazing and so varied, it's easy to apply, and my nails took about 2 weeks for any of the polish to start chipping, so it's long-wearing as well. These polishes seriously out-perform some of the upper-end, expensive nail polishes I own. And for about $2.00 a bottle? What a bargain! So if you're looking for a nail polish that lasts and lasts and comes in some pretty beautiful colors and textures, definitely pick up a few bottles to try for yourself! Great story! Just tell Kyle to practice. He'll get the hang of it just like he did the eyeliner! :-)
