***Disclosure: I received an all-expense paid trip to Hollywood to cover various Disney/ABC TV events. All opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** One of the things I was most excited about when I was in Hollywood last week would HAVE to be attending the Cinco de Mayo taping of Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! I am a HUGE Jimmy Kimmel fan, and was absolutely thrilled to have a behind the scenes look at this hilarious, late night show. For those who may not be aware, Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! is taped on Hollywood Blvd., right next door to the world famous El Capitan Theatre. Yep, Jimmy is right there in the middle of all the action! Pretty neat, right? When we arrived, our group of fabulous bloggers was escorted into the swanky VIP Lounge. Here, we were fed tons of delicious Mexican Food, some wine, and even a tasty hummus and veggie spread. After all, it was Cinco de Mayo, and Jimmy and his crew definitely know how to celebrate! They definitely made us feel very welcome there on the set. We also got to chat for a few minutes with Executive Producer, Jill Leiderman, as well as with Molly McNeary, co-head writer AND Jimmy's wife! (Yep! This lucky lady took Mr. Kimmel off the market and they're currently expecting their first child!) While chatting with these lovely ladies, we learned a lot about the show. For example, did you know that they come up with each episode's content the DAY of filming? (Aside from the celebrity guests. They're generally booked in advance.) So Jimmy's team of writers start looking for great, relevant material in the morning, and they get to work immediately, creating the hilarious content Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! is known for. So Jimmy, as hilarious and talented as he is, has got a whole team full of super-talented writers that help to ensure that each show is the best it possibly can be. I think they do a fabulous job, don't you agree? Well since we were present for the Cinco de Mayo taping, we knew there would be some fun in store. The celebrity guests were Sally Field and Julia Roberts! (I know! How exciting!) No, we didn't get to meet these legendary actresses, but we did get to watch the show being filmed and oh my goodness, was it hysterical. I was laughing the whole time! Check out this clip where Julia Roberts gets candid about Hollywood hookers. You know...from 25 years ago. Hollywood Blvd. has since cleaned up its act, and "working girls" aren't really an obvious fixture like they were in the past. (Don't worry...There are still bizarre and off-the-wall things to be seen in Holly-wierd!) If that wasn't awesome enough, check out Sally Field taking some Tequila shots with Jimmy and Guillermo to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Now this is a side of Ms. Field I had never seen before, and all of my "Mama Gump" illusions of prim and proper, ladylike behavior melted away. In a good way, of course. Sally Field can definitely hang with the big boys! But the BEST part of the show would have to be the Julia VS. Sally Celebrity Curse Off! If you missed this, you're definitely going to want to check it out. The game was simple: Each contestant would have 5 seconds to come up with a super-naughty word or phrase. They couldn't re-use words, so each round had to be something new. Well let me tell you, these ladies both need to wash their mouths out. Sally won, hands down, and I couldn't believe the words that came out of this innocent looking lady's mouth! (She gained major brownie points with me, by the way.) Julia did pretty well, too, but was clearly a lot more bashful than Sally. After the show was done taping, we were escorted onto the set so we could see Jimmy's desk, as well as where the live studio audience sits. Imagine our shock when Jimmy Kimmel came in to say hello! This was NOT expected, and we were all star-struck fan-girls when he made his appearance. Can you blame us? I mean, who doesn't adore Jimmy Kimmel? Normally, blogging groups get a group photo with the celebrities that they meet. Jimmy didn't want any part of that, though. Instead, he insisted on taking individual photos with each blogger! So I got to sit in a chair that Julia Roberts and Sally Field had just sat in, and I got my pic taken with Jimmy, right there at his desk! Definitely an amazing, amazing experience. Are you going to be heading to Los Angeles? Be sure to reserve your tickets so you can enjoy Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! as a studio audience member!
These tickets go rather quickly, so make sure to book your seats in advance. "Jimmy Kimmel Live" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT on ABC You can also follow Jimmy Kimmel on twitter!
