Since summer is here, of course we spend a lot of time outdoors. Whether we're playing on our playground, bouncing away in our bounce castle, or riding bikes and trikes, we stay incredibly busy. Of course that means that little ones tend to get hot very easily. That's where popsicles and water play come to the rescue.

And boy, my kids sure do love getting wet. Or dousing their siblings with cool water. Whichever happens to occur first! See that mischievous little grin? That's my 2 and a half year old, Xander, right before he soaked his unsuspecting sister with the Aeromax Fire Power Super Soaking Fire Hose Backpack....Poor Sophie didn't even see it coming!

The Fire Power Super Soaking Fire Hose Backpack is the perfect solution for a hot summer day, and even won the Creative Child Toy Award for 2011 Product Of The Year. (How cool is that?!) This innovative design is realistic looking, so it allows little ones to play the part of a real life firefighter. You can even pair this up with some of the Get Real Gear costumes and give kids the complete firefighter experience!

I received one of these awesome toys for review, and I have to say, it's pretty darn cool! The thing I love the most is that this water toy does not resemble a gun. At all. (Yes, I am one of "those moms" who doesn't allow her kids to play with toys that look like firearms.) This looks like a backpack with a fire hose, which allows kids to be heroes rather than assassins.

The Fire Power Super Soaking Fire Hose Backpack is super easy to assemble, since all that is required is attaching one hose. That's it! So it's literally ready to go in less than a minute. I love it when toys are this straightforward and simple to operate, since I am not mechanically inclined at all. I usually have to wait for Daddy to get home to handle all assembly.

There are adjustable straps so little firefighters can wear this product backpack style. This comes in very handy when chasing fleeing siblings and friends! It holds a full liter of water, and shoots up to 30 feet or so. (Talk about distance!) It's also pump activated, and can generate about 60 squirts per tank.So kids will get positively soaked before needing to refill the Fire Power Super Soaking Fire Hose Backpack.

Overall, we're really enjoying the Fire Power Super Soaking Fire Hose Backpack! It's easy enough to use that even my preschoolers can operate it, and it has a strong, far-reaching spray. This is perfect for hot summer days when kids want to be outside, but overheating may be an issue. As an overprotective Mom, the fact that this toy has a design that doesn't glorify violence is a major added bonus.

I would definitely recommend this, as well as other Aeromax products, to families looking for wholesome summer fun. This company has a real knack for mixing physical activity with creative play, and definitely keeps kids engaged!
