***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review. No other compensation has been provided, and all opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** I am not pregnant now, but I DID spend almost 2 straight years of my life expecting, since Sophie and Xander are only 12 months apart in age. This made celebrating birthdays, Holidays, and going to special events a bit of a challenge. I didn't have anything cute to wear that fit my growing shape. And let's face it: When you have back to back pregnancies, chances are, you don't feel very glamorous, anyway. Comfort is more of a priority than looking polished and well put-together. Unless, of course, you're Kim Kardashian. But that's a whole different post entirely. I remember always feeling so tired and frumpy while I was expecting. I wish I had know about Mothers En Vogue back then! They prove that maternity clothing can be not only incredibly comfortable, but oh-so-chic as well! This wonderful boutique offers some truly beautiful clothing for moms to be, nursing mothers, and even women who are simply trying to get their pre-baby body back. (Like yours truly!) Their apparel ranges from casual tops and dresses to more elegant looks perfect for the office or even a special occasion. Rich colors, luxurious, eco-friendly fabrics....This is the fashion we crave when we're not expecting, so why not enjoy it then, too! The best part? Many of these pieces are designed to be worn both during and after pregnancy. How cool is that?! Mothers en vogue's commitment to the environment: Mothers En Vogue™ works with NATURAL FIBRES and increasingly, environmentally friendly alternatives that are grown without harmful chemicals. ●Cotton – a natural fibre of vegetable origin is especially recommended for nursing wear due to its softness, breathability and excellent absorbing capabilities. ●Modal – made of cellulose from beech trees, it is very soft, drapes beautifully and absorbs water well. This sturdy bio-based fibre does not fade or pill easily too. ●Linen – A natural textile made from the fibres of the flax plant is exceptionally cool to wear, especially in warm weather. ●Silk – is a natural protein fibre; silk’s absorbency makes it comfortable to wear in warm weather and while active. Its low conductivity keeps warm air close to the skin during cold weather. ●Organic Cotton – grown without the use of harmful pesticides and chemicals that can contaminate the environment, this earth-friendly fabric not only feels good, it feels right too. Organic cotton yarns that are used in the manufacture of MEV clothing are certified according to Standard OE100 of the Textile Exchange. ●Bamboo Rayon – made from the pulp of bamboo grass, is earth’s fastest growing plant, and is also a sustainable source of fibre. Its environmental benefits arise largely out of its ability to grow and spread quickly without the use of fertilizers and caustic pesticides that can contaminate and damage the environment. Bamboo rayon is a soft, breathable, super absorbent and lustrous fabric that is lightweight and has a cooling effect on the skin. My Top Fashion Finds : Now this is a brand I can truly get excited about. Not only are their pieces versatile, stylish, and oh-so-comfy, they're also made from eco-friendly materials. Here are just a few of my top picks from MEV: My Review of the Sweet Pea Tiered Dress: I received the beautiful Sweet Pea Tiered Dress to check out for myself. This dress is super-flowy and feminine. It features a fitted empire bodice and a flowy, tiered skirt that accommodates a growing belly quite nicely. The top part of this dress is made from a 95% cotton 5% spandex blend, and the bottom is 100% cotton. The skirt is rather lightweight, and a bit on the sheer side. No worries, though. It's fully lined, too, so there won't be any unwanted peek-a-boos. Constructed with empire-line access for discreet breastfeeding. Inner lining extends from empire “opening” to neckline so as to minimize accidental exposures. Recommended for the first-time nursing mom. One simple motion - pull band upwards and you're ready to feed! Okay, so obviously, I am not going to look anywhere near as good as the gorgeous model above. But I did want to show you what this dress looks like on an average woman. I wear a size 8-10 normally, and I do not have the perfect body. I have a belly pooch, which this dress disguises quite nicely. I am also a bit bustier than the model shown above. (I'm a D cup.) Please excuse the no-make-up-ombre-hair thing I have going on here. I need to redo my red! While I am not currently nursing, I did want to point out that the empire opening is very easy to use, even one-handed. There is plenty of fabric to keep your tummy concealed, and you won't be over-exposed, which is helpful for those who like to nurse as discreetly as possible. I was very pleased with both the quality of construction and the feel of this dress. I received a medium, and it fits very well. It is a bit on the long side for my liking, but I am vertically challenged at only 5'3". While this dress is meant to fall right above the knee, it falls mid-calf on me, which is kind of an awkward length. I feel it makes me appear even shorter than I am. That being said, I still wear it often. It looks great on its own, or paired with a lightweight summer cardigan like I am wearing above. This really is the perfect summer dress!
