As the mom of 3 kids, I have to admit, there are a lot of video games in my home. I don't allow my kids to play any game they'd like, though. I like to make sure that the content is age-appropriate and there's not any adult themes or excessive, graphic violence. Yep, I am one of "those moms". My teenage son doesn't play Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto or Assassin's Creed.....He plays games that are meant for kids. He certainly doesn't complain, though! He doesn't like games that are gory or super-violent!
So when I discovered Moshi Monsters released a brand new game for the Nintendo DS and 3DS, I knew that all 3 of my kids would really enjoy it.
About Moshi Monsters :
Moshi Monsters are cute monster pals that can be adopted and raised. Each Monster has a unique personality that develops the more it is interacted with. You can earn Rox, the game's currency, by completing different tasks and puzzles. These can be used to buy goods to care for your Moshi Monster! Moshi Monsters is also a social experience. In the online community, there are buddy lists, pinboards, newsfeeds and Monster Blogs. This community is totally kid-safe, too!
Our Thoughts on Katsuma Unleashed :
When our Moshi Monsters: Katsuma Unleashed game arrived, my son couldn't wait to try it out. He loves games like this one, and was very excited to give Moshi Monsters a whirl.
Here is the synopsis of the game, for those who are not familiar:
Dr. Strangeglove has kidnapped Elder Furi and plans to force him to reveal the power of Moshi Picchu! You'll need to rescue him and save the day!
It's not going to be easy though! On the way there is a whole army of Robot Moshlings to defeat, backed up by some of C.L.O.N.C.'s elite bosses too. Plus you'll need to rescue the other Moshi Monsters and hunt down all the lost Coin Pieces. Not to mention a whole bunch of Moshlings to collect! So what are you waiting for, let the fur fly!
Moshi Monsters: Katsuma Unleashed is a fast-paced, fun game that has a game-play similar to Mario Bros. or Sonic. You navigate through 6 exciting worlds, collecting hidden secrets and battling Dr. Strangelove's robot monsters. There are also epic boss battles to keep you on your toes! (Don't worry, your Super Moshi Powers will come in handy for tough battles like these!)
This game also features mini-games that must be unlocked. These games, once accessed, can be played individually. This comes in handy when my 2 and 3 year olds want to play. They don't quite grasp the storyline in the main game, so mini games allow them to play on a much smaller scale.
My son Kyle is 13, and he got sucked right into this game. He loves going through all of the different worlds, and was surprised by how challenging some of the battles and puzzles are. While he is a little older, I do think that kids as young as 5 would be able to play it, too!
I would definitely recommend Moshi Monsters: Katsuma Unleashed if you're looking for those last minute gift ideas! This game is action-packed, engaging, and kid-friendly. Be sure to check it out! It is available for Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS.
