My fave Xmas tradition is going to tree lots with my hubby to find just the right tree (he comes from a family of loggers so a real tree is a *must*)... Then once we get it home I put in The Polar Express on DVD and decorate the tree... I love the hot chocolate song and Tom Hanks as Santa :)

One of my favorite childhood traditions was always going out to bfast and shopping for my mom with my dad on Christmas Eve every year. But one tradition we are starting with our family of 3 this year is the giving of 3 gifts to each person as a representation of the 3 gifts the wise men brought Jesus. I am super excited about this one!

I love the tradition that my husband's aunt helped us start: each new baby in the family gets a little Christmas tree and we purchase a new ornament for it each year. When the kids are grown they will have ornaments for their own tree. We try to choose an ornament that reflects something special that happened in that year - a toy or character they loved, a special place that we went, recognition of one of their milestones. It's nice to remember the previous years as we decorate their tree each year.

My favorite holiday tradition is the way we do stockings. We put the stockings in the kids beds before they wake up on Christmas morning and then they open their stockings in their bed, put it all back in and bring it to our bed to show us what they got. When I was a kid my sisters and brother and I all had our own rooms so we would each open our stocking on our own bed then we would go to my eldest sisters room dump out our stockings again to show each other and then pack them up and go to my parents room to dump them again. It really made all the stocking stuffers special to open them so many times

A family evening on the Solstice. We usually eat leftovers from Thanksgiving that we had frozen(big dinner, little fuss), decorate our tree, and open a gift for the whole family(usually a game). It's a way to stop and have a quiet night that focuses on our family, amidst all of the craziness of the season.

I was actually just talking with my dad about this. We are just now establishing our first family traditions. We love giving to those in our community in need, and we love writing the things we are thankful for on little cards and hanging those on our thankful tree.

One of my favorite holiday traditions is baking cookies to take to our local firehouse. They work so hard, we like to give them a little treat this time of year. Plus the kids love going!

I love decorating the tree. I like looking at all of our old ornaments and reminiscing about all of our past Christmas fun.

Every Christmas eve we sit around the tree and read Twas the Night Before Christmas. That was my favorite thing as a kid.

I love going to my grandparents house on Christmas Eve. I've done it every year since I was little and it means so much to me to be with my wonderful family.

I used to loooooove it when we lived in the next state over and didn't have to deal with extended family. Our own little family tradition was to wake up late, make egg nogg french toast and open gifts whenever we wanted.
