MEGA BLOKS HALO Metallic Series ODST Drop Pods Review

I've said it once and I will say it again....Teenagers are finicky, often difficult to please creatures. My 8th grade son Kyle is no exception. It seems that his tastes change like the weather. One day he is obsessed with one thing and before you know it, that becomes "lame" and he's moved on to another interest. 

Except for when it comes to video games and anything related to them. Normally, being the strict Mom that I am, I wouldn't allow him to play HALO. You know...guns and all....But my husband is a HUGE gamer, and HALO is one of his favorite games. So of course, I decided to lighten up a bit and allow some father son bonding time spent killing creepy aliens. 

So when we got the chance to review the Metallic Series ODST Drop Pods by MEGA BLOKS, I knew both the hubby and my son would enjoy them. After all, men are big kids in a sense. At least my other half is, and he proudly admits it! 

So what exactly is an ODST Drop Pod? (I wasn't sure myself, to be honest. My guys knew, though!)

The Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODST) are elite special operations soldiers performing high-risk orbital drop-and-infiltration missions against key Covenant targets across the galaxy. In the seat of his drop pod, the ODST is equipped with a backpack and weapon, ready to conduct long range recon and ground surveillance before taking direct action against his target.

This is the Metallic Series Silver ODST Drop Pod. As you can see, this guy is ready to defend against any extraterrestrial invaders that may come his way. 

And the Green ODST Drop Pod is ready to jump into the action, too. I wouldn't want to run across either of these soldiers in a dark alley, would you? Looks like he means some serious business! 

Overall, my guys totally dig these HALO toys. They do require assembly, but this is very quick. I did notice that they can be a bit difficult to snap together if you don't have exactly the right angle, so younger kids may need a bit of assistance. Older kids, teens, and man-children shouldn't have any issues at all. I admit, while my men love HALO, I am pretty clueless about the premise and the characters. I tend to tune them out when they play their video games. But I can say that based on what I have seen of the games, these characters are very detailed and true to the game. Definitely check them out if you have a gamer in your life, too!
