McFarland USA Now Available On Disney Blu-Ray and DVD Plus Tamale Recipe

In the tradition of Disney sports movies comes “McFarland, USA” based on a true story of underdogs triumphing over tremendous obstacles. This heartwarming drama follows novice runners who strive to build a cross-country team under Coach Jim White (Kevin Costner) in their predominantly Latino high school. Everyone has a lot to learn about each other, but when Coach realizes the boys’ exceptional running ability, things change. Beyond their talent, it’s the power of family, commitment to each other and work ethic that transform them into champions — helping them achieve their own American dream.

We got the chance to enjoy this film together as a family. I have to say, it was definitely a hit. Not only is this amazing true story moving and inspirational, it also teaches love and tolerance for those who may not be the same as you. In my home, this message is kind of a big deal. 

We really enjoyed seeing the kids from McFarland High School grow and evolve into a winning team. We also really appreciated the strong values and ethics these families had in the film. Sure, Coach Jim White walked into something that was unknown and uncomfortable at first. With hard work, determination, and some love and understanding, he gained more than just a cross-country team, he gained a new community, and a new family.
