![]() With a little bit of time left before the school year starts, many families still have some last minute getaways planned. I wish I could say my family is going on some fabulous vacation, but this year, that just won't be happening. My husband's vacation doesn't kick in until October, so we'll have to wait until next year to go on any trips. It might be better that way, since the babies are still so little. Who knows? Maybe by then I will have won some unbelievable trip in one of the many sweepstakes I enter. (I won't be holding my breath, though!) One thing that is so important during summertime, or ANY time traveling, is security and safety. Whether it be on the home front or on the road, safety is imperative for your well-being as well as for your belongings. The nice folks at Master Lock understand this, and have come up with some great tips to help keep your family secure during your travels! These tips will help eliminate some of the stress and frustration that can accompany travel plans, allowing you to focus on what's truly important: Making lasting memories with your family!
MY REVIEW: We received a TSA Approved Master Lock Luggage Lock for review. This is a great little lock that allows you to set your own 3 digit combination, and also features a key hole to make this lock accessible for airline personnel to check your bags without having to break the lock. (And yes, they ARE allowed to break locks if need be. I have had this happen years ago when I traveled to the Toronto area!) The lock is very strong, very durable, and easy to operate. We have tried the lock on several pieces of luggage, and it is extremely easy to attach. We also found that the lock does not "stick" or get finicky when entering the combination. My son actually wants to use this luggage lock on his locker this year, he likes it so much! Master Lock, as always, is the natural choice when wanting to keep your items safe and secure. Whether it be for travel, school, or even home use, Master Lock has you covered! BUY IT: Master Lock products are available pretty much everywhere! You can also check them out on their website to view their full range of products! For more great security tips, be sure to follow Master Lock on Facebook and on twitter! WIN IT: One lucky follower will be receiving the same lock I received for review! Please use this handy Rafflecopter form to enter! This giveaway is open to US Residents 18+ and will be open until 12:01AM EST on 8/19/2011. Winners will be chosen at random and will be announced here, tweeted, shared on Facebook, and contacted via e-mail. The winners will have 48 hours to reply and claim their prize. If I receive no response, I will be forced to draw a new winner. ***Disclosure: I received a complimentary product to facilitate my review. No other compensation was provided, and all opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.***

A good travel tip is to bring both a GPS and paper map for the areas that you are traveling by car. If the GPS fails, at least you have a paper backup.

The first time I took my son on a road trip for a week, he had ruined all his clothes in one day. Yikes, always pack a LOT extra for kids.

When flying, I always write my address and contact information on a full sheet of paper and place it on top of everything INSIDE my suitcase. That way, in case my outside tag comes off, or I'm arguing with another passenger about who it belongs to, there's proof right inside the LOCKED bag!

If you regularly take medication, make sure to carry plenty with you. A few years ago my wife and I extended our stay in Branson MO, but ended up leaving before we wanted to because we were running out of pills.

always make sure all GPS units and phones are charged and if you dont have a "smart" phone, keep a list of all family members and phone numbers, insurance information, medical info, etc and LAMINATE it to keep with you always. Also, have any family members who are traveling leave a COMPLETE itinerary and hotel numbers, flights etc where they will be traveling. My uncle's brother passed away and it took three days to find the parents while they were on vacation. :(

I am tryin to reach you about a new product that's great for consumers to know about and that health care providers can use to make drawing blood or starting a PICC line easier, safer and less painful for patients. No longer will people be treated like pin cushions because a needle has to be inserted multiple times.

One time my husband outside of Tiaquana locked the keys in the trunk. He had to tear the back seat out and it wasn't very fun! Rita Spratlen

My #1 travel tip is put all liquids in your check in luggage-these new travel rules suck and you'll be spending a lot of time and money throwing away these items you have to throw them away when flying.
