You see, the house we bought is a century home that was built in 1924. It's got a ton of unique charm, as well as the original hardwood flooring, doors, and fixtures. We absolutely love these touches, but we also like to throw some more modern details into the mix. Having 3 kids, of course we have tons and tons of photos. So displaying tons of family photos is no-brainer way to decorate. I have tried lots of different ways of displaying my kids' adorable faces. We have standard, framed photos, canvas prints, and even laser-etched glass. One thing I had never heard of is aluminum prints. This was a concept that was totally new to me when I was contacted by the folks at Aluminyze. About Aluminyze : Aluminyze offers the most unique, vivid, and durable medium available to display your most meaningful photographs and artwork. The innovative and revolutionary process, in which your image is actually infused into a sheet of aluminum, yields a rich piece of art that can easily be hung or upraised without a frame for a sleek and contemporary look. Whether you’d like to create an epic piece of wall art, a multi-panel display, or a small magnet for your fridge, they offer a wide array of gorgeous options for you to start or add to your Aluminyze collection. Aluminyze currently offers both Silver and White surfaces and Glossy and Matte finishes. The Silver Surface amplifies your image by printing it on raw aluminum. The White Surface has a white coating on top of the raw metal and allows for a blank canvas to keep your image true to color. The Glossy Finish enhances reflectivity and shine which adds depth and dimension. For a softer, subdued look, choose the Matte Finish — it will silence the glare and mute the shine. Our Review : The awesome folks at Aluminyze allowed me to create my very own aluminum print. It was very hard choosing a photo to use! With 3 kids, I have about a zillion memories that are worthy of display. Ultimately, I chose a very colorful photo of Sophie laying in our hammock. I wanted to choose something that would really pop from the shiny finish of the aluminum. Customizing my print was very easy, and only took a few minutes on the Aluminyze website. I was able to choose the size, finish, and even the shape of my print. I went with a 16x20 standard rectangular shape with wall-mount. It arrived with lightning speed, and was very well-packaged. When I opened it up, I was absolutely delighted with the finished product. The colors were incredibly vibrant and the image quality was fantastic as well. I was rather surprised to see just how thin the aluminum is! It is very durable and not at all flimsy, though. Another very cool thing about Aluminyze prints is that they're UV resistant, waterproof, and scratch resistant. This makes them suitable for even outdoor display! How cool is that?! It also came ready to hang, which was a definite plus. We used 2 nails, evenly spaced, and the print rests on them perfectly. We decided to hang our Aluminyze print right above the bookshelf in the kids' reading area. This makes the space so much more cheerful, and Sophie loves seeing her own smiling face looking down from the wall. Overall, I couldn't be more impressed by Aluminyze. The print we received is definitely very high quality, and has a very unique appearance to it. I love the way the light bouncing off of it makes it shine. I'm glad I chose a very colorful photo, since these light tricks look so much more intense against the vibrant colors. I would definitely recommend Aluminyze to anyone who wants a unique and visually stunning solution to home decor. The products are conversation starters, and they're also durable enough to last for many years to come! I can't wait to add more prints to my home! My first thought was to get a high quality scan of a photo of my gram from the 1940s, because I like the idea of displaying something like that in such a *new* format! Besides, I just love old photos!
