Luna Star Naturals Offers Fun Play MakeUp For Girls and Tweens

My 4 year old daughter, Sophie, is a pretty unique little girl. While she is incredibly feminine in her tastes, she is also a "tough girl" who can hold her own while playing with rough and tumble little boys. Sometimes, she'd rather be a super hero or ninja than a princess. Which is fine, of course, but I really love it when she wants to embrace her sweeter, more delicate side. 

When I learned about the kids' play makeup from Luna Star Naturals, I knew I just had to grab one of their fun kits for my Sophie. She's always curious about Mommy's makeup, and has even tried to raid my purse before. This did not end well, by the way. She ended up covering herself as well as Daddy with ColorStay lipstick in fire engine red of all shades. Oh, did I mention this was at about 3:00AM while everyone else was sleeping soundly? My husband was not amused. Not amused at all. Although he does look awfully dapper in red. 

Anyway, since my daughter has an interest in experimenting with makeup, I wanted to get some special makeup made just for kids. Luna Star Naturals offers a wide variety of products for little girls, tweens and even teens that are fun, shimmery, and safe to use. In fact, since they're made from mineral powder and other natural ingredients, these cosmetics may just be among the cleanest on the market. There are no synthetic ingredients whatsoever! (This excludes the nail polishes. They do contain an inert plastic material that is needed to help the polish form a coat on fingernails.) 

We received the Luna Star Naturals Queen Fairy makeup kit to try for ourselves. It arrived quickly, and comes in an adorable storage box. I don't know about you, but I love it when products come in cute packaging. Little details like that get more more excited about the brand!

The Queen Fairy makeup kit includes all kinds of goodies that will spoil any little girl and make her feel as beautiful as an enchanted fairy queen. Included in the kit are the following all natural products:

• Silver Sparkle Eyeshadow
• Very Violet Eyeshadow
• Bubble Gum Shimmer Lip Balm
• Raspberry Shimmer Lip Balm
• Rosy Blush
• Perfect Purple Nail Polish

The makeup products are made from shimmery, all natural mineral powders. I love the soft pastel shades offered here. What little girl doesn't love pink and purple? These powders also have a glittery effect to them, which makes them just like sparkling fairy dust! 

Once we opened the kit, the first thing Sophie wanted to paint her fingernails. She sat perfectly still for me as I painted her nails using the Perfect Purple nail polish. As you can see, this appears a bit more on the pink or very light purple side. It's a very pretty color, nonetheless. It does take a few minutes to dry. Thankfully, Sophie knows the drill and doesn't go touching anything until her nails are completely dry. 

Once her nails were done, Sophie was ready to have her own glamorous fairy makeover. I used the Silver Sparkle eyeshadow to her brow bone and coated her eyelids in the darker Very Violet eyeshadow. We used the Rosy Blush and the Raspberry Shimmer Lip Balm to complete her magical new look. 

As you can see, these colors are not overwhelming or inappropriate for little ones. These shades are soft and natural looking, so no need to worry about your little princess looking like Mimi from The Drew Carey Show. The colors do show up well and are more shimmery than anything, and a little bit goes a very long way. That's one thing I have always loved about mineral makeup. It requires only a very small amount to get the job done. 

We had a great time experimenting with our Luna Star Naturals makeup, and Sophie absolutely adored her new look. She felt all grown up just like Mommy wearing her sparkly makeup. Xander was so cute, too. He kept ooh-ing and ahh-ing and saying that Sophie looked like a fairy princess!
