![]() Now that the weather is finally warming up, I am determined to get my preteen off of the couch. He spends entirely too much time sitting around, and now that spring is here, he has no excuse not to be active. Physical activity in children and teens is so important. It helps build strength, endurance, and confidence. Plus, it's fun! When I was a kid, one of the things I loved doing was bike riding. I lived on a sloped, dead end road and my brother and I would go to the top of the hill and race each other to the bottom. This was always loads of fun, except for the one time that I braked too hard and flew over the handlebars and landed face-first on the rough asphalt. Ouch! One thing we used to do with our bikes was stick playing cards in the spokes to make a loud noise as we rode around the neighborhood. This wasn't overly effective and to be honest, the cards really didn't stay in place for too long. They always ended up wither falling off entriely, or they got too dented and beat-up to produce the desired effect. Thinking about my childhood adventures on my bike made me feel a little bit nostalgic. I want my kids to have similar memories that they can look back on, too! When I heard about Kool Rider, I knew I had to get this for my son. What is Kool Rider? It's similar to the old playing card in the spokes bike trick, but it's durable and lasts for ages! That's right! Today's kids can make their bikes sound like a motorcycle using this product. It adds new excitement to an ordinary bike ride, and is sure to get those kids up off of the couch! Kool Rider is pretty simple in design. It comes with a durable plastic unit that can be clipped onto the bike and held in place by a sticky, velcro loop. There are also fun stickers included so you can customize the look of your Kool Rider! Once my son read the instructions on the box, he immediately went to the garage, dusted off his bike, and installed the Kool Rider. He actually uses 2, but for photographic purposes, I am showing a single Kool Rider. Isn't that neat?! I know younger kids will be absolutely amazed that their bikes can sound like they have a motor! I really like the concept of the Kool Rider. It takes a beloved childhood memory of mine to a whole new place. I know my kids will really enjoy this, and that it will help get them outside to be active as they show off their "choppers" as they ride throughout the neighborhood!
