My daughter, Sophie, is almost 3. She is in the potty-training process, and she does quite well...Most of the time, that is. Sometimes, when she has to go #2, she strains and tries to keep it all in, making her rather constipated. When I asked her pediatrician about ways to help aid her digestive health, one thing that was highly recommended was the use of children's probiotics. While this will not make her go to the restroom, it will aid the while process of digestion with the use of probiotics. Probiotics help maintain a healthy digestive tract and maximize the body’s ability to absorb nutrition from the foods that are eaten. It's very easy for the "good" bacteria in the body to get thrown off, whether it be by picky eating or the use of antibiotics. Probiotics help keep the body on track. One great product that offers kids the benefits of probiotics is KidsLac, from the folks at Global Health Trax. This product comes in a yummy sour apple flavor that kids love. It's easy to use, too! A box of KidsLac contains 30 individual packets which can be mixed into water or cool foods that could use a flavor boost. KidsLac offers five strains of healthy bacteria, including:
DDS-1 strain of Lactobacillus acidophilus - Initiates the colonization of good bacteria and helps control PH levels primarily in the colon. Bifidobacterium bifidum - Helps maintain intestinal flora. Bifidobacterium lactis - Supports the immune system. Bifidobacterium infantis - The main bacteria found in breastfed infants. Bifidobacterium longum - Helps metabolize a wider range of carbohydrates. Sophie really likes the flavor of KidsLac. I usually give it to her in water, but we've also mixed it into vanilla pudding for a sweet and sour treat. She thinks it tastes like candy, and I have the peace of mind knowing that I am helping her digestive system maintain regularity. It's a win-win situation! We are all gluten intolerant and now that we have cut gluten out of our diet, take probiotics, and eat a healthy diet our tummy troubles have disappeared. I do believe the probiotics are essential.

Stress can cause big tummy troubles: turn off or flip the channel when an Obama "Forward" Ad airs on television- lies are a big downer.
