Okay, so unless you're living under a rock somewhere, you're well aware of the current Arctic chill that much of the US is under right now. Here in NE Ohio, it is unbearably cold. We had wind chills yesterday and today as low as -45F. In fact, it is SO cold here that our pipes were frozen this morning and my husband had to rush home from work to try and get them to thaw. (Thankfully, it worked and nothing burst.)
If you're my friend on Facebook, then you know I am definitely not used to Ohio cold. After living in Virginia for about 20 years, I am a big wuss when it comes to extreme cold. It seems whenever I step outside, even briefly, I am left with a chill that lasts all day. When we go shopping, I am the crazy lady who looks like Kenny from South Park, all bundled up in about 1,000 layers. Yeah....me and the cold are not the best of friends, to say the least.
Now that we live in "snow country", I have been looking for a pair of high-quality boots that will keep my feet from turning into popsicles when extreme weather hits. Of course comfort matters, too. No one wants warm feet that hurt, right?
Well recently, I learned about a great brand called Lugz. They offer a wide variety of stylish yet tough footwear for the whole family, as well as some great apparel. I just love their styles, especially the Women's Mahala Boot below:
About Lugz :
Always an innovator and leader in footwear, Lugz first made a name for itself in October of 1993, bringing its first line of boots to market, with the initial product consisting of two styles of boots, a quilted vest and a pair of jeans.
Soon Lugz was endorsed by key players from the world of hip hop and has continued to do so through out the years. One such collaboration led Lugz to breathe life to a whole new category of footwear with the introduction of the first ever celebrity-endorsed “Funk Master Flex” urban driving shoe. This was only the beginning as support then lead to a collaborative line with hip-hop superstar Bryan “Baby” Williams, aka “Birdman” with his own series of sneakers and boots.
In 2006 Orange County Choppers, the world’s premier builders of custom motorcycles signed on to endorse Lugz shoes, which they were already wearing so it was a natural fit. With its aggressive “built for the streets” reputation Lugz collaborated with Paul Teutul, Jr. to create a signature Lugz shoe “the Torx” which interpreted this incredibly well.
In the fall of 2008 Lugz shot on to the Mixed Martial Arts scene signing its first two MMA fighters, Lyoto Machida and Houston Alexander as endorsers. Machida captured the title of UFC Light Heavyweight Champion as he represented Lugz. With MMA becoming the fastest growing sport/entertainment platform with an increasingly growing fan base, Lugz was excited to be apart of this growing trend and later signed Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. In 2010 Cain Velasquez became the newest endorser of Lugz.; immediately after signing, Cain fought to become UFC World Heavyweight Champion. In 2011, Lugz continued to grow its Team – signing UFC Welterweight Josh Koscheck and UFC Light Heavyweight Phil Davis.
From its inception, Lugz footwear has been an innovator in the footwear market from its signature styles, to creating trendsetting styles beyond boots and has added casual shoes and athletics to the mix for the Lugz men, Lugz women and Lugz kids lines.
My Review of the Women's Mahala :
The awesome folks at Lugz sent me a pair of Mahala boots to check out for myself. They arrived quickly, and I was immediately very impressed by the quality of these boots.
These slip-on boots are expertly constructed, and are very durable. They feature a very soft suede upper, and even have cute sweater knit underlay detail and 3 straps and buckles on the back.
The inside of these boots is warm and fuzzy, since they're lined with a wool/acrylic lining. They are so amazingly comfortable, since this lining acts as almost like a fluffy cushion for your feet. No cold toes in these boots, that's for sure!
Obviously, since I live in NE Ohio, I have gotten plenty of opportunity to put these boots to the test. Snow, ice, sleet, slush, mud...You name it, I have trudged through it while rocking my Lugz Mahala boots.
These boots are literally a God-send. Sure, I had other "fashion boots", but none of them were able to keep my feet warm, and soon I'd be shivering and complaining. Cold feet seem to trigger cold EVERYTHING for me! My Lugz keep my feet warm and toasty, even in sub-zero temperatures. Much to my surprise, my feet have also remained dry while wearing them. Now that, my friends, is a great winter boot! Oh, and I did mention they're cute, too, right?
Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with my Lugz. These boots are definitely built to last even through harsh winters, and they're oh-so-comfy to wear. I am guilty of wearing them around the house since our hardwood floors have been really cold lately! I would definitely recommend checking out Lugz if you're looking for a great quality boot. They do a fantastic job of keeping the warmth in while making a killer fashion statement as well. Oh, and did I mention that they're only a fraction of the price of that "other brand" who shall remain unnamed?
