Like many children, my toddlers love baby dolls. My very girly 2 and a half year old, Sophie, has quite the collection of "babies". She likes to talk to them, pretend to change their diapers, and dress them up in adorable doll clothing. She hugs and coos, and even comforts her babies when they're "Ky-ing". (That's Sophie-speak for crying.) She will be a wonderful mommy one day, although I must admit, I am in absolutely no rush for this milestone.
Xander, my 1 and a half year old, also loves playing with his sister's dolls. Now I know a lot of people might raise an eyebrow at allowing a little boy to play dolls with his sister, but I have no problem with this whatsoever. It gives them something to do together, and it also helps teach my son to be kind and nurturing. This is a good thing, since as he grows, it's important for a little man to be empathetic and caring.
His Daddy is a wonderful example of this, since he does all of the duties that I do, and without complaint. He kisses and hugs his children, changes diapers, and snuggles them every single day. When I see him interact with his kids, it makes me fall in love with him all over again! So allowing Xander to "play babies" with his sister cannot possibly be a bad thing, in my humble opinion.
While my kids have several dolls they like to play with, none of them are overly remarkable. Sure, they're cute and cuddly, but they have a cartoonish appearance and do not resemble real babies at all. Cloth or hard plastic bodies, painted or sewn on eyes, and floppy limbs and bodies just don't seem realistic to me.
That's why I was so excited when I learned about the adorable, realistic baby dolls from the folks at JCToys. You see, these dolls take the experience of playing with baby dolls to a whole new level. These dolls are so incredibly detailed, and are the closest thing I have seen to the real thing!

Much to my delight, (and the delight of my toddlers) I recently received the La Newborn 15" Real Girl doll to review! When our doll arrived, I was immediately blown away by the lifelike detail of this gorgeous doll. It even comes beautifully packaged, making it perfect for gift-giving!
When we took our new little bundle of joy out of the package, we were all completely taken with her delicate features and newborn quirks! The La Newborn Dolls from JCToys are lovingly made to mimic the appearance of a new baby, from the wrinkled hands and feet to the "bow-legged" appearance and chunky little thighs. The doll is made from plastic, but it is velvety soft and not super-hard, like many other dolls. Nothing feels quite like a brand new baby, but this doll comes the closest out of any others I have found. Take a look at how special this doll is...
Isn't she fantastic?! I wish I had such gorgeous dolls when I was a child! Mine paled in comparison, to say the least!
My toddlers loved their new baby, too! Sophie took to her immediately, and has even named her "Dora". (Hey, she's 2 and a half, haha) She loves holding her, singing to her, hugging and kissing her, and just being a good "dolly-mommy". She even picked out her own pink outfit so she could match her baby doll's clothing! Take a look at Sophie with her La Newborn Real Girl Doll!
Xander, my 1 and a half year old, also loves "Dora". He loves holding her and babbling to her. So far, all he says is "cookie", "doggy", "up", "bye-bye" and a few other words, but you'd better believe that he tells his baby doll all about these things...as well as other things we can't quite understand! He also loves taking her hat off and putting it back on, which is great for developing hand-eye coordination.
Overall, we are loving our La Newborn doll from JCToys. It is amazing in quality and possesses all of the traits you'd expect to see in a real newborn. She's even anatomically correct! With her soft skin, chubby features, and innocent expression, this doll is truly a work of art. Seeing my toddlers play with her and love on her almost makes me want to have another baby myself! Note, I DID say almost...
I would definitely recommend dolls from JCToys to any doll lover or collector. These dolls are simply stunning and are built to withstand being played with by children, unlike realistic looking porcelain dolls. They're soft and cuddly and sure to be a welcomed new addition into any child's heart!
