Whether it's "Peter Pan" or the newer, hipper "Jake and the Neverland Pirates", they're always ready for a swash-buckling good time. And if there are fairies involved, that's a major, added bonus. My kids love fairies, especially Tinker Bell. Hey, can you really blame them? I love me some Tink, too! Recently, a new "Jake and the Neverland Pirates" DVD hit the shelves. In the "Battle for the Book" DVD, which is actually the 2-part, Season 3 finale of the show, kids will be on the edge of their seats as they watch Jake and his gang help find Wendy Darling's special Storybook. Yes, THAT Wendy, of "Peter Pan" fame. So this feature is a bit of a cross-over, where old meets new, in the best way possible. Like with most Disney features, there are some positive messages being sent to little ones, like the value of friendship, how to work together as a team, and even why cooperating makes a task easier for all involved. As the parent of 2 kids 5 and under, these are messages I definitely approve of. This feature is also appropriate for kids of all ages. Even Captain Hook, the evil pirate villain himself, isn't too terrifying for even the smallest of swash-bucklers. So while grade school aged kids will love this feature, so will your toddlers. In addition to the "Battle for the Book" feature, this DVD also includes 4 bonus "Jake and the Neverland Pirates" episodes. These have a more episodic feel, whille the "Battle for the Book" story feels more like a movie. That's right, kiddos will truly get the best of both worlds with this fun DVD! Oh, there is also a cute, checker-board bandana and cardboard game pieces that are included in the package, which just adds to the pirate fun! Synopsis:
When Wendy’s special Storybook is stolen by Captain Hook, Jake and his mates go to London to help Peter Pan’s friend (from the classic movie Peter Pan). The longer the book is out of Wendy’s hands, the more she and her brothers (John and Michael) forget about their past adventures on Never Land. The battle for the book continues in Never Land, where Hook plans to destroy the book and its stories in the legendary Ring of Blue Fire.
