I have a confession to make. One that as a cat lover, I'm not proud to make. My confession is that I have spent the vast majority of my life disliking cats. The cats we had growing up tended to be on the feisty side, and I remember getting clawed to shreds by a kitty named Mimi when I was a kid. Add to that the fact that I suffer from allergies, and you can see why I chose to steer clear of felines for so long. When we moved to Ohio, we were cat-free. As the weather turned cold, we noticed something scurrying in our pantry. Much to my absolute horror, we discovered that MICE were somehow getting into the house! I didn't want to use poison, as we had kids and a dog, and peppermint oil wasn't doing the job. After seeing one mouse too many and completely losing my cool, I called Dan at work and said three words that would change our lives forever: We need a CAT. A natural born hunter. A mouse assassin extraordinaire. So we got a cat. The mice? Well, let's just say they've vacated the premises. Fast forward several years....I now have multiple cats, all of which were rescue kitties. The kitty seen above is Pringles. She was a "Death Row" kitty who was scheduled to die in mere hours at a high-kill shelter in NYC. She had a New Hope Only rating, which typically doesn't bode well for cats. Thankfully, with the help of a wonderful rescue, we were able to save her in the nick of time, and she's happy, healthy, and thriving here in Ohio. She's actually the Queen Bee here in our home, and is even in charge of the dog, it seems! Recently, I learned about a great new line of cat toys that were created with your cat's hunting instincts in mind. The Jackson Galaxy™ Collection by Petmate® was designed by a renowned cat behavior expert, and brings out the natural hunter in your kitty. (Trust me, this is a good thing! Staying active and stimulated can help minimize issues like scratching the furniture, etc.) An active, engaged kitty is a well-behaved kitty. At least in my home this rings true. We received a generous assortment of Jackson Galaxy cat toys to try out with our feline family members. Included were:
Pringles was the culprit! She literally hopped into the shipping box and stole this toy shortly after our Jackson Galaxy toys arrived. I found her rolling around with delight, clutching the toy and purring loudly. She even curled up and took a nap with it. I think it's safe to say that the Jackson Galaxy Mixed Twisted Refillable Kicker Cat Toy is the ultimate favorite in my house. Pringles has claimed it as her own, though, so the other kitties don't get to enjoy it much. Noodles thought twice about snagging it, actually.... And then she thought twice, and went for the Air Prey Wand, instead. Smart kitty. You don't mess with Pringles! To avoid nighttime cat fights, we store all of our cat toys in the Vault Marinater. Not only does it conveniently store all of our toys in one secure place, it also infused the toys with the smell of catnip. Yep. I have some happy, happy kitties come morning! I have a 3 year old tortie named Tao. She was my moms and came to live with us when my mom couldn't keep her. It has worked out great because we just love her and my mom has visitation rights :)

I have been very fortunate. The cats I have had have been wonderful. My first cat Spike was a stray that was found at my work. I brought him home and he became my best bud. He could be nice as could be but was a tough outdoor cat as well. My second cat Frisco came to me as an indoor cat. We turned him into an indoor/outdoor boy in a matter of months. He loved everyone and would often visit with my neighbors. My cat now is Mikey. We got him through a rescue. His previous owner had 19 cats and needed to get rid of some. He is a sweetheart. Like Frisco, he was an indoor cat who now is an indoor/outdoor kitty. He loves going outside but needs to hang out with his humans for loving as well. He is very social and does not hide when company is over.

I have had cats for most of my adult life. My previous 2 fur babies are gone, so I have 2 new black male cats that we purchased from a rescue shelter. BoBo and JoJo (not fond of the names but that is what they had). They would love to win this!

We currently have 1 cat, Tiger. He is the head of the cat posse in our neighborhood. The neighbor cats collectively get together and come knock on our door looking for Tiger to come out and play. They all follow him when he goes out. I never seen anything like it. People do not believe this, until they see it. It happens just about daily so it is easy to show people. lol

We have a few kitties, but the ones that tend to the roost is our Siamese siblings, Brother and Sister. Brother was even on Instagram for while under the hashtag #thedappersiamese, where he would be wearing a bowtie. Unfortunately, he lost the bowtie, so now he's just back to being the grumpy old man he is.

Max has a great life. He starts his day sitting on my dresser waiting for me to get up, then food. I give him fresh catnip in his toy. He sleeps a couple hours, then he will play with his toy or my feet. He looks out the window for the neighbors cat and then the food.
