![]() It's no secret that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. A proper morning meal helps give our bodies the fuel we need to make it through a busy day. As essential as breakfast is for grown-ups, it is equally important for growing kids, too! Sure, there are tons of breakfast choices out there that cater to children. Many of these are sugar-laden, full of preservatives, and lure kids with fancy packaging and a toy buried deep within the box. I remember being tempted by these very foods when I was a kid! There are many benefits to starting the day with breakfast. Not just any old breakfast, but from a nutrient rich breakfast. In countless studies dating all the way back to the 1950's, results have consistently shown that children who eat a well-balanced, complete breakfast perform better academically than children who regularly skip breakfast. When I was a teen, I frequently skipped breakfast. While I still did well in school, I did find that I got very tired and it was often difficult to concentrate throughout the day. That's why I make sure my kids get a better start to their day! As a mom, I am concerned about making sure my kids get the proper nutrition. I realize that the sugary breakfasts of my childhood were anything but ideal. You see, not all breakfasts are created equal. Not by a long-shot! So in my home, we stay away from the sugary foods that are full of empty calories. I like fresh organic fruits, whole grains, and yogurt. One of the things my kids love for breakfast is Earth's Best Sesame Street Yummy Tummy Instant Oatmeal. Not only is this instant oatmeal delicious, it is also wholesome and nutritious. Each serving of the USDA Certified Organic oatmeal contains 30g of whole grains as well as 8 vitamins and minerals. It is also a fantastic source of fiber, iron, zinc, and Vitamin B. My toddlers really love the Maple & Brown Sugar flavor, and they happily gobble it up along with some fresh fruit slices and a sippy of milk.
And since Earth's Best is committed to providing organic and natural foods, I can always be sure that there are no artificial flavors, dyes, or preservatives to be found. On top of that, the ingredients used in Earth's Best Yummy Tummy Oatmeal are cultivated with no growth hormones, antibiotics, steroids or potentially harmful pesticides or herbicides. So by choosing Earth's Best, my kids are only getting the most pure and natural foods available without all of the added "junk" found in so many foods nowadays! I would definitely recommend starting your children's day with some Sesame Street Yummy Tummy Instant Oatmeal from Earth's Best. Not only is it hearty and filling, it is also loaded with the nutrients growing minds and bodies need. How do you start your day? What's your favorite breakfast? I'd love to hear about it! I don't know that you'd call it healthy but it's better than nothing! :-) I drink a Herbalife shake with bananas, strawberries and whatever other berry is on sale or in season pretty much every morning except Sundays.
