In Honor Of The Tatas Sponsor Spotlight And EARLY ENTRIES: Swaddlebees!

I am super excited about my next sponsor for the In Honor Of The Tatas event coming this October! So excited, in fact, I am sitting here typing with an injured finger because I just can't wait to share this with you all! I had a nasty cheese grater accident, and my right pointer finger was cut almost down to the bone, right on my knuckle. Ouch! So ladies, be very careful when grating your cheeses. This really hurts!

Anyway, like I said, I just HAVE to talk about Swaddlebees. Have you heard of this awesome company yet? They make some of the most luxurious cloth diapers I have tried to date. Think of them as the Mercedes Benz of the cloth diapering world. Fully loaded, at that!

Why are Swaddlebees diapers so nice? Well, for a lot of reasons! First of all, they use US made materials whenever possible. On the off chance that US grown cotton is in low supply, they receive cotton from Turkey. However, it is still milled here in the US. This gives them much more room for quality control, making for a superior product. Using US sourced materials is also great for our economy, and helps keep the textile business alive here in the States!

Swaddlebees are also uniquely designed to fit a baby's unique body shape perfectly. No bunching, sagging, drooping, or added bulk! This is wonderful in my home, as we have 2 babies in cloth. These diapers are also very comfortable for baby to wear, and even have super-soft inners feel amazing against the skin.

Here is a little more behind the making of Swaddlebees diapers, taken from their website. Read on and see for yourself what puts Swaddlebees a step above the rest!

"The microfleece we use has a special weave that makes it 95% less susceptible to detergent build-up that causes repelling and leaking issues to cloth diapers made with a polyester wicking layer. It is 3 times more expensive than imported microfleece or suedecloth, but performance is our main priority and is something we feel must not be compromised. Even the polyester knit used to make our laminated fabrics are all made in the US. We design most of our prints and have them printed at a local fabric printing facility that strives to maintain a sustainable and environmentally-friendly operation by using aquaeousdyes instead of oil-based dyes, and reusing and recycling majority of the raw materials used in their operation. We use latex-free elastics exclusively on all our diapering products. Again, this type of elastic costs 3 times more than your typical polybraid or knitted elastic, but using latex-free elastic ensures us that the possibility of babies getting an allergic reaction with sensitivity to latex is greatly reduced, if not eliminated. And just like most of the fabrics we use, our latex-free elastic are made in the USA as well. Our products are carefully manufactured in a professionally-run equal-opportunity facility in the US where seamstresses and workers are paid well , treated with respect, allowed sufficient time off to enjoy life and be with their families. We pride ourselves in having one of the most anatomically-correct diapers available. Simply put, our diapers fit great. No sagging, bunching or stuff sticking out. We carefully design our diapers to conform to the unique shape of babies to ensure the best fit, comfort and function. We believe diapers aren't just waste-catchers, they're a fashion statement. So they have to look the part and fit well."

Now THAT is attention to detail, if you ask me! The folks at Swaddlebees are dedicated to providing the best cloth diapers that money can buy, and they truly care about the performance and quality of their products. They have literally thought of everything, and have truly created a diaper that is suitable for all babies, even those with sensitive skin or allergies. They don't skimp or cut corners when making their diapers, and this is what puts them at the top of their game.

I was lucky enough to receive a Swaddlebees Econappi Cloth Diaper in their adorable Cow Print for my review. When I received this diaper, I was immediately very impressed by the overall quality of the construction of this diaper. The fabrics used are amazing! They are durable, super soft, and the diaper was expertly stitched. It was obvious that great care is taken by the Swaddlebees seamstresses to create diapers that will not only perform well, but will also last for years.

I especially love the inner of the Econappi. This diaper is lined with an organic cotton velour that feels heavenly!  My toddler, Sophie, loves rubbing the diaper on her face and she even says the word "Soft". The feel of this diaper is luxurious and almost velvety, and is sure to be comfortable against baby's delicate bottom.

I also really love the inserts. Each Econappi comes with 2 inserts that are made with a blend of organic cotton and bamboo. Bamboo is probably my all time favorite material, for diapers and clothing alike. This sustainable material is durable, soft, incredibly absorbent, and even has anti-microbial properties, making this the ideal choice for diapering!  The small insert consists of 4 layers for use when your baby is at the smallest size setting. They can also be used as doublers when extra absorbency is desired. The longer insert consists of 6 layers of organic cotton/bamboo blend that is trifolded and is adjustable in length. Inserts can be used inside the pocket of the diaper or laid on top, giving the added AI2 functionality, which is so convenient while on the go!

Another great feature of the Swaddlebees Econappi is that these diapers are made to grow with your baby. They can easily be adjusted to fit babies from 10-35 lbs by using two rows of snaps to adjust the rise as baby grows. The snaps are strong and very durable, too! No more sized diapers needed here!

Take a look at the Swaddlebees Econappi!

How cute is this print?!

Rear View. Can't you just imagine your baby's bum decked out in this diaper?
So looks and materials aside...I know what you're all wondering: How well do these diapers perform? I put my Swaddlebees Econappi to the test on both my infant boy and my toddler girl for both daytime and overnight use, and got consistent results, even after several washes. Here are my results:
Picture
TEST BABY #1:
Xander, 8 months, 20lbs

I tested the Swaddlebees Econappi on my squirmy son, Xander, for both day and night time use. Xander is notorious for having massive blowouts, and I have had many occasions where a diaper just couldn't keep his messes inside the diaper where it belongs. This makes for an awful mess on my son, on his clothing, and sometimes even on the carpets. Eww! I was eager to see how the Swaddlebees Econappi could hold up against this poo-poo problem.

During the day, the diaper did exceptionally well. I was able to get a great fit with minimal effort, and the diaper was snug in all of the right places. Xander is just beginning to crawl, and likes to scoot himself all over the place. He can get pretty active throughout the day! I am thrilled to say, the Econappi stayed in place beautifully. It didn't shift, bunch, or twist, even though my son definitely was on the go. I also didn't experience any leakage whatsoever. The Econappi proved to be incredibly absorbent, and even kept his skin dry-feeling. I tested this diaper both pocket-style as well as AI2 style, and experienced the same wonderful results.

Overnight, the Econappi did equally well. I did choose to use both inserts stuffed into the pocket for added absorbency. Since Xander is a boy, he tends to wet towards the front of his diaper. I was thrilled to see that both the diaper and my son's clothing were dry to the touch when he woke up in the morning. He even woke up with a huge poo explosion, and it remained inside the diaper! Success!

TEST BABY #2:
Sophie, 20 months 26.5 lbs

My toddler is crazy. She is always running, jumping, twisting, and twirling. She has been known to cause her diapers to shift due to her high level of activity, and this has caused leaks on many occasions. After getting such great results with Xander, I was hoping I'd have the same experience with Sophie.

Again, I was able to get the perfect fit on my baby girl. For daytime use, I tested both as a pocket and an AI2. I have to say, I was very impressed! The Econappi did not bunch or shift at all, even though my daughter was moving constantly. It stayed in place perfectly, even though she didn't! Again, I didn't have any problems with leakage. The cotton/bamboo inserts are definitely worth their weight in gold, as they absorbed like a dream while keeping my daughter's skin dry to the touch. If this diaper can withstand "Hurricane Sophia", it can withstand anything!

Overnight, I experienced great results as well. Sophie is an incredibly heavy wetter at night. She tends to wet towards the back of her diapers. I cannot tell you how many times she's woken up damp feeling after a good night's rest. Again, I chose to stuff the Econappi's pocket with both inserts. I was thrilled to find that the inserts once again did their job well. Sophie woke up with her typical 5lb diaper, but her PJ's and the outside of the diaper were dry to the touch. Another success for Swaddlebees!

Overall, I LOVE Swaddlebees, and I now see what all of the fuss is about! This is a superior diaper in so many ways. Not only is it well-constructed using some of the most luxurious fabrics I have seen; it is also very effective and protects against leaks (and worse) wonderfully. Even better? Swaddlebees Econappis come in some very adorable colors and prints! Sure, they may be a bit on the pricier side, but this is one case where you truly do get what you pay for. Swaddlebees definitely doesn't skimp on quality. We all want nothing but the best for our babies, right? I would definitely recommend trying the Econappi for yourself and seeing the Swaddlebees difference. You'll be so glad that you did!
