Anyway, Diva Diapers is a fantastic family owned business out of sunny Florida. They offer tons of cloth diapers, accessories, and even baby fashion. With tried and true brands like bumGenius, FuzziBunz, Apple Cheeks, GroVia, Drybees, and Knickernappies, you're sure to find the ideal diapering solutions for your baby. Diva Diapers also has a special selection of items just for the mamas out there. After all, it can't ALL be about baby, can it? Moms need care, too! I wish I would have known about Diva Diapers when we were trying to conceive. They offer pregnancy and ovulation tests at rock bottom prices! When we were trying for Sophie, we probably spent hundreds of dollars on these items.
I have to say, the customer service at Diva Diapers is absolutely outstanding as well. They are very responsive, easy to deal with, and willing to help in any way that they can. This makes choosing the best diapers easy and painless, even for fluff-newbies. The staff at Diva Diapers is friendly, knowledgeable about the products that they carry, and are committed to customer satisfaction. When there was an issue with the prints I had selected for my BG 4.0 Artist Series order, they were quick to let me know, and also let me know the prints they had in stock so I could easily choose a substitution for the Eiffel Tower print that was temporarily out of stock. I greatly appreciated this, and was definitely satisfied with my order. It arrived to me very quickly, too!
Now I had never tried a Knickernappies diaper before, but I am a huge fan of side snapping diapers, so I was definitely quite eager to put this brand to the test. I received the Knickernappies OS diaper in Chocolate for my review. I immediately noticed that the diaper is very sturdy and well-constructed. There were no loose threads or crooked seams, and the snaps were strong and quite durable. I love that this side snapping diaper can be customized to fit babies of very different sizes, too. This is great for families like mine who have more than one baby in cloth diapers. Also included were two of their LoopyDo Inserts, one large and one small. I absolutely love hemp inserts, but found that they can take quite awhile to dry. I was thrilled to find that these microfiber/hemp inserts live up to their promise and do in fact dry very quickly. I also love that the inserts are prewashed, so they only require one wash before use rather than the usual five or six that is commonly called for with other inserts.
Take a look at the Knickernappies OS Diaper!
Xander, 8 months, 20lbs
First, I tested the Knickernappies OS Diaper on Xander, my 8 month old son. He is just getting used to crawling, and loves to move all over the place! He has been known to even scoot on his back, like an inchworm, to get where he's going. Now this has proven to be disastrous in the past. I recall one time he was scooting on his back, had a standard "Xander Explosion" and the mess crept out of his diaper, up his back, and got all over the carpet. Yuck! So I was definitely curious to see how the Knickernappies dipe held up against my son and his icky poop.
The first thing I noticed about this diaper was that even when stuffed, it is very trim fitting. This is great, since so many diapers cause "fluff butt syndrome" and make it difficult to fit clothing over them. This was not at all the case with the Knickernappies diaper. I was able to achieve the perfect fit on Xander, and was able to put jeans, the most unforgiving of pants, over top of his diaper.
Once the diaper was on, I let Xander do his thing and waited to see what happened. He crawled, wiggled, scooted and played to his little heart's content. During this time, he pooped. (Of course. This kid has bowel movements more frequently than anyone I've ever seen before!) I am happy to report that the mess stayed in the diaper and didn't creep out at all. Even though the diaper was heavily soiled, it remained dry to the touch and kept messes off of my son, his clothing, and my poor carpet.
This diaper did just as well overnight. I used both inserts, just to be on the safe side. Xander tends to wet towards the front of his diaper, and this has caused leakage around the waist at times. Thanks to the wonderfully absorbent LoopyDo inserts, we didn't have this problem, despite his heavy wetting. His pajamas and the outside of the diaper remained dry to the touch, even after 10 hours of sleep! Nice!
Sophie, 20 months, 26.5lbs
Next I tested the Knickernappies OS on my very active toddler, Sophie. When I say active, I mean Tasmanian Devil active. She is always on the go. She loves to run, jump, spin, climb, and just go nuts in general. I have had problems in the past with her diapers in particular shifting and bunching, which has caused leaks.
When I put the Knickernappies OS on Sophie, I was able to get a wonderful fit. The diaper was trim, yet still allowed a full range of motion. She did her usual acrobatics, and when it was time for a diaper change, there weren't any leaks. Her clothing remained dry to the touch, and the inserts did not shift or bunch at all. She also couldn't get the diaper off, which was a HUGE plus. She has a fascination with being naked lately, and loves making a game of taking her diaper off. I think the side snaps helped prevent that!
Overnight, Sophie is a VERY heavy wetter. I am talking floodgates here, people. So I used both of the LoopyDo inserts for overnight use. Sophie tends to wet more towards the back of her diapers, so I made sure to situate the inserts accordingly. I was happy to find that the Knickernappies OS diaper held up well against Sophie's heavy wetting. 2 out of the 3 times I've used it overnight, the diaper remained 100% dry to the touch. The other time, my husband put it on her, and he only used 1 insert. While the diaper did not leak, the rear of the diaper was very slightly damp to the touch. I attribute this to "Daddy Error" rather than a product flaw. So I was very happy with the results I got with the diaper.
Overall, we love the Knickernappies OS Diaper. I can't believe these aren't sold more places. The diaper is trim-fitting, highly absorbent, and does not leave red marks on baby's chubby thighs. These diapers are also very easy to put on, and are very clothing-friendly. I especially love the fact that these diapers can be sized to fit babies of all shapes and sizes, making them a natural choice from birth all the way to potty-learning.
