***Disclosure: All info and promotional items have been provided courtesy of Tortle and 2 Red Hens. All opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** If you're a mom, you're probably all too familiar with "Flathead syndrome". Thankfully my kids didn't really end up with this, but I know of many children who have been diagnosed with this syndrome. How do babies get Flathead syndrome? When a baby is born, their skulls are still rather pliable. Since babies spend a great deal of time on their backs since it's the safest position for them to be in before they're truly mobile, they're at great risk of developing this problem. The incidence of Plagiocephaly and Torticollis (or Flathead syndrome) has increased to epidemic proportions since 1992 with more than a million babies being diagnosed with the condition each year in the U.S. alone. If left untreated, there can be long-standing problems. Treatment is frequently expensive and can be somewhat uncomfortable for a baby. Plagiocephaly and Torticollis are almost 100% preventable with repositioning. There's also a great product called the Tortle that can help prevent Flathead syndrome. This is a cute little lightweight beanie that not only keeps baby's head warm and cozy, it also gently redirects baby's head from side to side when they're laying down, preventing a flat spot from forming. Developed by Dr. Jane Scott, a Board Certified Pediatrician and Neonatologist, the Tortle beanie is an FDA-cleared patented Class 1 medical device that promotes proper head and neck movement which is essential for appropriate development. Tortle helps prevent and treat early stages of flat head syndrome: plagiocephaly (the flattening of the baby’s skull) & torticollis (unbalanced neck muscles). The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends regular head repositioning of babies younger than six months. Check out this brief video to learn more about the Tortle and Flathead Syndrome. It's pretty interesting, and is definitely info every new parent needs to know! The Tortle is now available at Target stores! I have some exciting news to share! The Tortle has come a long way, baby! I haven't traveled with little ones in a very long time. Next year my granddaughter is due in May so it'll be awhile before I travel with her. My sister & brother-in-law have an SUV with the dvd player that pulls down so my nieces can watch a movie. They like to color or read too.My daughter & son-in-law will probably travel so this will be perfect for them. Thank you :)

Bring dramamine, lots of snacks, a portable potty chair, electronic toys with HEADPHONES and EXTRA BATTERIES, and lots of ColorWonder stuff. Did you know it takes like a year for the ColorWonder markers to dry out if the kiddo drops a lidless one down between the seats? Also no artwork on the car interior because it only writes on the special paper.

My best of advice about children when traveling comes from a reliable source; she is my mother, someone that has always been there for me when I need her most. The great advice is, "Teach them something new and make a game out of it"! And being I was a Boy Scout: I was to recall the Motto that we were sworn to follow - "Be Prepared", so bring that of extras of all important items like small toys, books, diapers, clothes, pacifiers, bottles, formula etc. And if they are older inspire them to use there imagination by asking them to look out the window and tell you what they see.
