![]() This Holiday season, one thing that is definitely on Santa's list is video games. Am I surprised? Not at all. I have 2 "kids" that enjoy playing them. I say 2 because while I have an 11 year old son, I also have a 34 year old husband who is very much a child when it comes to his leisure activities. He loves video games, cartoons, and even slurps his chocolate milk and eats mass quantities of cookies. Okay, so maybe it's a guy thing. Anyway, when I got the opportunity to review the new Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL for the Wii, I don't know who was more excited, my son or the man-child who shares my bed. They were both absolutely ecstatic and couldn't wait to play! You see, they often watch Cartoon Network together, and this game has a colorful and quite diverse cast of characters taken from the Cartoon Network line-up! Where else would you see Johnny Bravo, Ben 10, the Powerpuff Girls, and Samurai Jack battling it out in one place? The folks at Crave Games and Cartoon Network really went above and beyond when creating this game, and there are a lot of fun and truly unexpected twists to be found! You can play the in-depth story line mode, but also there are other ways to get your brawl on. There are numerous battle modes that can support up to 4 players! There are tons of battle arenas, each as quirky and cool as the characters depicted in this revamped brawler. An in-game store will give fans an opportunity to unlock new characters and arenas, unique costumes, and memorable cartoon clips from their favorite TV shows. In addition to all of the fantastic, animated fun, there is a new addition to the Punch Time Explosion XL game, the 2 player synergy attack. These attacks are not only very cool to watch, they're also sure to elicit plenty of giggles from the men and boys in your life. One includes a "fart cloud". (Yes, really!) This absolutely delighted my husband and my son. Again, some things must just be a guy thing! Check out some screen shots of Punch Time Explosion XL! Overall, we love Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL. As a mom, I appreciate the fact that while this is a classic brawler game, the violence is not overly graphic. You won't see guts flying or arterial spray here. This makes this the perfect game for younger audiences, since this is based solely off of cartoon mischief like that found on the Cartoon Network. My hubby loves the very graphic shoot-em-up games, but as a stricter mom, I do not let my son play them yet. After all, he is only 11. With Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion, they can play the game together without hearing Mommy rant about anything being grossly inappropriate. My son sees his favorite cartoon characters brought to life, and my husband gets to beat the crap out of things. This makes them both quite happy. The game play is easy and straightforward, and the action is very well animated. The developers of this game took great care in providing vibrant battle arenas and a lot of fantasy-like elements that make the game come to life. Add to that the HUGE cast of Cartoon Network favorites, and you've got a real family-friendly hit this Holiday season! One of the other things I really like is that the game can be played with classic Game Cube controllers if your Wii controllers die or cannot be found because certain little toddlers like to hide them in the oddest of places, like in with the doggy toys! My only complaint? My husband and my son won't turn it off. Even when chores need to be done or it's Daddy's diaper turn. So while we definitely gained a fantastic new game, I just may have lost my oldest child and my husband! I would definitely recommend Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL to anyone looking for a fun, family-friendly, and affordable gift this holiday season. Just make sure all chores are done and all is right with the world before you turn it on. Otherwise, you may just be out of luck. The game is super-addictive, and when it is turned on, it seems so is my guys' selective hearing! BUY IT: Punch Time Explosion XL is available online and wherever video games are sold. It is available for the XBOX 360 and PS3 for $39.99 and also for the Wii for $29.99! You can also check out the Punch Time Explosion XL website and become a fan on Facebook! WIN IT: One VERY lucky follower will receive a copy of the Wii platform Punch Time Explosion XL of their own! How cool is that?! And just in time for the holidays, too! Please use this handy Rafflecopter form to enter! This giveaway is open to US Residents 18+ and will be open until 12:01AM EST on 12/13/2011.
