I have a confession to make: I love Pokémon. I know...It's silly, right? A 32 year old mom of 3, addicted to Pokémon. I actually discovered this phenomenon when I was babysitting some neighborhood kids, several years ago. One of the older boys would bring his NintendoDS to my house, and I was immediately drawn into the wonderful world of Pokémon. Pretty soon after, I had my own DS and an assortment of Pokémon video games. I spent 2 entire pregnancies on bedrest, and I spent much of my free time battling gym leaders and saving the day with my band of powerful Pokémon.
So of course this Holiday season, my kids will be receiving some great Pokemon related gifts. My teen loves them, and my preschoolers do as well. When I discovered the Pokémon Energy Battle Arena, I knew my kids would love it! Since it's interactive, it's something they could even play with together. That never happens, since teens and preschoolers generally have very different interests!
About the Pokémon Energy Battle Arena :
The ultimate platform for catching, training, and battling your Pokémon. This action-packed playset features two modes of play: 1-player training mode versus the computer and 1-on-1 battle mode against a fellow Pokémon trainer. Select your Pokémon figure, pick their appropriate type, and watch as the energy battle attacks illuminate the full color LED display and the dynamic sounds bring the epic battle to life. Your knowledge of the Pokémon combined with your timely attacks and defenses will determine who wins the battle.

Our Review :
When we received the Pokémon Energy Battle Arena, the kids were all really excited. This great electronic play set includes everything you need to stage some pretty epic battles.
The battle area sets the stage for Pokémon of different types to fight until they faint. The floor of the arena features LED displays that demonstrate the attacks used. There are even lots of fun sound effects to make for a more realistic battle experience!
This set comes with 3 Pokémon of varying types. There is a water Pokémon, who can put out a fire Pokémon's flame in an instant. Water Pokémon are also effective against electricity, although it is also one of their weaknesses.
There is also a mighty fire Pokémon. These are my favorites! Fire is great against plant Pokémon in particular, but is weak against water. So choose your strategy wisely!
There is also an adorable little plant Pokémon. Don't let the leaves fool you. Plant-type Pokémon are a force to be reckoned with. Not only are they incredibly powerful against water and rock Pokémon, they also possess the ability to use poison and sleep attacks!
Sophie, Xander and Kyle had a great time staging their own Pokémon battles. Of course since knowledge of Pokémon and having a good strategy in place are essential to this game, Kyle beat his baby brother and sister every single time. Surprisingly, the little ones didn't seem to mind losing. They were way too excited about all of the lights and sounds to care that their Pokémon fainted!
Overall, I think that the Pokémon Energy Battle Arena would make a fantastic Holiday gift this year. It's fun, interactive, and a great way to encourage kids to play together. It's also a lot of fun to try and come up with different winning strategies!
