Holiday Gift Guide GIVEAWAY: Kid Basix 11/28

As the parent of an infant and a toddler, I am well aware of the scrutiny that sippy cups and other feeding items have been subjected to in recent years. Traditionally, these items have been made of plastic. How is this bad, you might ask? Well, for a number of reasons. Plastic manufacturing often releases harmful gases and other toxins into the environment. Even worse: A lot of these bottles, sippy cups and other accessories contained BPA. BPA is a chemical compound not occurring in nature that has been shown to have negative effects on babies and children with long term exposure. Seriously, it's some scary stuff.

For quite some time now, manufacturers have been staying away from BPA, thank goodness! But it took 25 YEARS for them to catch on to the risks associated with this substance. 25 YEARS! What's next when it comes to plastics? I don't want to find out, so I am constantly on the lookout for safer, more environmentally sound products for my family. Rather than potentially put my kids in harm's way, I have been leaning towards sustainable, easily recyclable materials for my family's needs. One material I am loving is stainless steel. It is reusable, clean, and does not leech into the fluids or foods that it comes into contact with. Stainless steel is also one of the most easily recycled materials on the planet!

MY OPINION OF THE SAFE STARTER:

I love the Safe Starter, and so does my 9 month old son, Xander! Made of clean, non-leaching, BPA-free stainless steel, The Safe Starter™ baby bottle eliminates concerns associated with both glass and plastic bottles. No worries about toxic chemicals leaching into baby’s food. No worries about broken glass on the kitchen floor. Trust me,this is a HUGE plus in my home! My toddler daughter is a whirlwind of terror, and she loves throwing things. With a glass bottle, this could prove to be absolutely disastrous! Concerned you can’t see how much liquid your baby has taken in? No worries there, either. All Safe Starter™ bottles have two different volume measurements: one on the bottle, another on the travel cap.

I love the fact that the sleeve of the Safe Starter is made of a very soft silicone which not only helps to insulate the bottle, but also makes it easy for baby to grip. This has literally become Xander's favorite bottle! I also love that the body of the Safe Starter is constructed of stainless steel. I have no worries about anything bleeding into his formula. The Safe Starter is also dishwasher safe and very easy to clean! It just doesn't get much better than that! My only wish? That I had about 20 of them!

If you thought the Safe Starter was cool, hold onto your hats. The Safe Sippy 2 is not only just as awesome, it's also a bona fide shape shifter!

MY OPINION OF THE SAFE SIPPY 2:

Okay. Now I usually wouldn't get too terribly excited about a simple sippy cup. But the Kid Basix Safe Sippy 2 is no ordinary cup! The Safe Sippy 2 is a shape-shifter! It's magical! It's the best thing since sliced bread! Okay...Maybe I am going a little overboard here. After all, we are talking about a cup here. But this cup is special. It's the world's first 2-in-1 convertible cup, changing from a spill proof sippy to a straw cup, all with a simple change of attachments! And guess what? The attachment is included! How's that for value!? So when my Sophie, who is already too smart for her own good, decides that sippy cups are for babies, all I need to do is switch to the straw attachment, and Viola! A big girl cup! Nice!

The Safe Sippy 2 also features a travel plug and a dust cap, making it super portable! Of course the body is made of clean, recyclable stainless steel and all of the plastic used in the sleeve and the spout are 100% BPA-free. So while my little princess enjoys her milk or juice, I don't have to worry that she's getting an added dose of chemically goodness. (Note the sarcasm, people!)

Sophie really loves her Safe Sippy 2 cups. She loves throwing them, too! I am pleased to say that after several uses and abuses, these cups are still 100% spill proof and have remained totally and completely intact. If they could survive Hurricane Sophie, they can survive anything! These cups are also just as easy to clean as the Safe Starter, and they are also dishwasher safe.

Overall, I am totally in love with the products from Kid Basix. These products are adorable! And let's face it: Good looks count, especially when we're buying for our kids! But appearances aside, these cups are also completely safe, BPA-Free, and are made of sustainable and highly recyclable materials. They even have a Safe Sporter, which is a cup perfect for big kids and grown ups alike! Yep, my 11 year old is jealous! When you choose Kid Basix, you're not only giving your kids the coolest sippy cups ever, you're also doing your part to help the environment by helping to eliminate plastic wastes from our already overflowing landfills. As a mom, I can feel good about that! Kid Basix gets an A+++ from me!
