Now what good would a Holiday Gift Guide be if I didn't include gifts for ALL of the members of the family? That's right! A very important part of my family is our Jack-A-Bee, Chloe. She is actually Kyle, my 11 year old's dog, and he lovingly refers to her as his "daughter." He even jokes and say's I'm her "Grandma" at the ripe old age of 30! Chloe is his constant companion. She greets him when he gets home, tail wagging and eager to play. She curls up next to him while he does his homework. She even sleeps snuggled up with him in his bed every night. Not only is Chloe a wonderful friend to my preteen, she is also incredibly gentle and kind to my babies. She follows them around, licks them on the face, and she takes a LOT of abuse....No, the kids don't really abuse her, but babies aren't exactly known for their gentleness. This is a skill that is learned. Poor Chloe has been climbed on, sat on, and she has had little fingers poke and tug her ears, tail, and even her mouth! Amazingly, she has never even growled at the babies. Not once. She is a kind and gentle pup, and it's almost as if she senses that the babies are defenseless and just don't know any better. I couldn't ask for more in a pet. Therefore, Chloe the Jack-A-Bee is an important part of our family. Chloe was also a rescue dog of sorts. She was once a hunting dog and was found by a local family, lost, beaten, and starving in the woods. She had very obvious signs of physical abuse, and was somehow lucky enough to wander away from her owner during hunting season last year. We were looking for a new dog, as our beloved and sorely missed Shih-Tzu, Mojo, had passed away after an accidental poisoning. (This broke my heart in particular, because Mojo was MY dog.) After some time had passed and Kyle expressed an interest in having a dog of his own, we found Chloe. When we heard her story and saw her picture, we suspected she would be the perfect fit for our family. When we met her for the first time, we knew this was the case and took her home with us. She and Kyle have been inseparable ever since. Kari Whitman with some of her creations! The sad part? Had we not adopted Chloe, this sweet and loving dog would have been euthanized in a matter of days. This is the unfortunate story for many, many dogs every single day. So when I learned about Greener Pup LLC, I knew I wanted to learn more. What is Greener Pup? Greener Pup LLC was conceived of by Kari Whitman, designer to the stars, dog rescuer, and environmental advocate. Kari’s “design with paws in mind” for her celebrity clients like Jessica Alba, Kristen Bell and Virginia Madsen led to the creation of her line of custom dog beds. Affordable, attractive, and eco-friendly, Greener Pup beds are the perfect way to pamper your pooch and help save the environment! But other than offering truly gorgeous, eco-friendly dog beds, Greener Pup is also a company with a great big heart. You see, Kari rescued an American Bulldog named Ace from a shelter. She fell absolutely in love with Ace, and when he died, she founded Ace of Hearts in his loving memory. The work that Ace of Hearts does is absolutely amazing and has made the difference between life and death for many dogs at the end of the line in shelters. What does Ace of Hearts do for these beautiful creatures? They rescue them the day before they are scheduled to be euthanized and then work diligently to find them loving, forever homes. This is no small task, since in the Los Angeles area alone over 475 pets are killed every single day. To raise funds for this ongoing mission, Kari donates 100% of her profits from Greener Pup directly to Ace of Hearts. So when you buy one of the fabulous beds from Greener Pup LLC, you're literally helping to save the lives of dogs who have been neglected, abandoned, abused, and cannot save themselves. How cool is that?! I would like to say that the folks at Greener Pup LLC are absolutely wonderful to work with. And Kari is truly talented. You can tell she has great passion for what she does, and I admire her kindness and generous spirit. When I read about Ace of Hearts and Greener Pup, it literally brought me to tears. This movement is doing so much to improve the lives of not only the animals they save every day, but the lives of the people who open their hearts and homes to these dogs. A dog is more than just a pet, it is a true companion. When you open your heart to an animal, your life is forever changed. I think people can learn a lot from our four legged friends. Without Kari and her hard work and dedication, none of this would be possible. Naturally, I felt quite honored and incredibly grateful when Greener Pup offered to send me one of their beautiful dog beds for my review. This bed was custom made just for Chloe! I selected the Round Cuddle Bug bed in the gorgeous Maxfield print. I didn't know quite what to expect, but when my Greener Pup package arrived, it took my breath away. This bed is simply stunning! But good looks aside, these beds are also environmentally friendly. Greener Pup dog beds are made in the U.S. and the filling is made from 100% recycled plastic--and a single pound of filling is made from 10 plastic water/soda bottles. Depending on the size of each of the dog beds, which have 7-12 pounds of filling each, we're saving 70-120 plastic bottles from being dumped into our landfills! These soft, durable fillers in our pet dog beds are breathable, hypo-allergenic and won’t attract insects. doesn't get much better than that! Take a look at some photos of the Round Cuddle Bug in action. Some of these pics may not be what you expect to see from a dog bed...My babies have decided they want it to themselves! Sophie and Xander both absolutely love this bed, and they will often sit together on it while they play. Luckily, our dog Chloe doesn't mind sharing, as long as she gets some lounging time as well! Overall, I couldn't be happier with my dog bed from Greener Pup LLC. For one, I love the unique design of the Cuddle Bug. It looks a lot like regular furniture, and it's chic enough to fit in with any decor. It is also generously sized so the dog (or the babies) can spread out on it for optimal comfort. The bed is very plush and cozy, unlike many other pet beds I have come across. It feels like sitting on a cloud. Just imagine how comfy this must be after a long day of playing fetch or chasing one's tail! Another thing I love is that the cover is removable and easily washable. So muddy paws or sticky little fingers won't easily ruin this bed! This bed is durable, oh-so-beautiful, and is the ideal place for your pup to relax. If a dog is old or injured and has difficulty getting up and down off of the bed, you can even remove some of the filling to make it a little easier on their joints. I love this feature! But with all the wonderful features of this bed, like being cozy and environmentally friendly, the thing I love the most about Greener Pup is the work they're doing behind the scenes to save the lives of shelter dogs. They also spread awareness about spaying and neutering pets, how to foster and adopt pets, as well as the horrors of puppy mills. This is a company that makes such a HUGE difference, and every time you make a purchase with Greener Pup, ALL of the proceeds go to fund this cause. I can feel good about that! HOW TO CONNECT: You can check out Greener Pup LLC on their website. You can also follow them on Facebook and on twitter to stay in the know about their latest products and news! To see their hard work in action, check out Greener Pup on YouTube! For more info about Ace of Hearts, visit their website. WIN IT....BUT NOT YET! I am thrilled to announce that one of you will be receiving a gorgeous dog collar designed by Kari Whitman from Greener Pup LLC during my Holiday Gift Guide event, hosted by myself and A Time Out For Mommy! They aren't rescue dogs in the sense that they weren't adopted from a rescue, but one of my dogs was a stray that we found inside of a grocery store and the other was left in the backyard by the previous tenants of the house that we moved into.

I learned that they use 100% recycled plastic for their filling in the dog beds, saving about 70-120 plastic bottles from landfills.

My life has been touched by a rescue dog! We are animal lovers and our dog who is a happy 17 year old terrier mix was rescued from the pound by a neighbor and we adopted from them! She is family! When we acquired her she became our 4 year olds best friend. She is now playmate to our grandchildren of our oldest daughter!

We have never had a chance to have a rescue dog. It is something that I do want to do one day. Maybe when we are done having kids and they are older and can help. We have 2 dogs right now and they are more than enough!

We rescued Reese from a shelter and after having her for 2 hours, we found out that she had Parvo. She only had a 15-20% chance of making it. Thankfully, we were able to get her the treatment and she was strong enough to fight it. She's my baby and I couldn't imagine not having her in my life. We've been through a lot together and she takes care of me just as much as I take care of her.

I learned they want every doggie to have a comfy spot to sleep, so if you can show them that you are receiving government financial aid, they’ll even give you an additional 20% off your Greener Pup discount dog bed.

We got our dog Apollo from the local humane society. We don't know a whole lot about his story before us other than he was 4 months old and had already gone through at least 2 owners. The people who had him before us had him for less than a month and brought him right back. So we want to make sure we are his forever home and that he won't ever be abandoned again.

As a matter of a fact, my life has been touched by a rescue dog. A small terrier mix named Zuma! But we didn't get her from a rescue agency. We found her years ago when we lived in the desert. She had no collar and was way too skinny. So we took her in and she's been a wonderful part of the family ever since. :) She even gets along with our Scottie, which is rare. lol

I got my 2 of my cats at the humane society. We have a dog that was my husbands Moms and her cat when she died that is why I have 6 animals. The dog a golden lab retreiver is now blind. He had a hereditary blindness. No cure. I went to the humane society years ago and there dogs were 250.00 and I could buy one in a pet store for that. They were too expensive for them to be giving away I thought. Rita Spratlen rjspratlen@gmail.com
