![]() When you have small children, it's not always easy to find time to get to the gym for regular workouts. Actually, it can be darn near impossible. I am surrounded by toddlers all day long, and while I do have to chase them around all day, it's not exactly the best form of exercise. It's a real challenge to find the time and motivation to work in the proper physical activity into my days. I don't know too many other moms in my area, so I don't have a workout buddy to help keep me on track, and it's hard to push myself to reach my goals sometimes. Recently I discovered Striiv, a great pocket-sized fitness tracker, motivator, and personal trainer, all in one. The Striiv helps you earn points for physical activity you do every single day. It records the steps you take, the distance you've walked (or ran), stairs you've taken, and the calories you've burned. You might think this sounds like a simple pedometer. But the Striiv is so much more than that! What makes the Striiv special? For starters, it allows you to set fun, interesting challenges and goals for yourself, and you're rewarded with points as you accomplish them. There are virtual walk-a-thons, simulated activities like climbing the Statue of Liberty or crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, and there are even rewards for exceeding your average steps that earn major points! You can use these accumulated points to do some real, tangible good in the world around you. You can earn water for those that are lacking clean drinking water, save part of the rainforest for destruction, and even donate a polio vaccine for a child who is in need. What better motivation do you need to get fit than that!? Another thing I love about the Striiv is that it's super easy to use, and keeps workouts from being mundane and boring. They even have an awesome game built right into the device that turns walking into an adventure. In this game, simply called Myland, you start with an enchanted island. Your goal is to bring back the animals that inhabit the island by planting trees and building huts. The only catch is that growth and new levels are based on walking, running, and taking the stairs. It's simple, fun, motivating, and addictive. Think of it like Farmville, but way more active! The Striiv is very user-friendly and simple to use. There are arrow keys that allow you to change from one feature to the next. There is also a power button and a USB port that allows you to sync your Striiv with your computer. The 2" touchscreen is easy to read and understand, and helps you to track how much progress you've made at any given time. This is especially helpful in setting goals and reaching for more. The best part? The Striiv is small enough to go on your keychain, making it your constant fitness companion. Take a look at some of the Striiv's screenshots: How much fun is that?! I love the fact that I can climb the Eiffel Tower or Statue of Liberty here in my own town. That saves a lot of money on airfare and makes me really feel that I have accomplished something special. Here's a short overview tutorial that shows the Striiv in action and how to use it. This is probably one of the coolest devices ever! Overall, I am loving the Striiv. This tiny little device is making a very big difference in how I view fitness. I find myself parking in the boonies rather than search for the nearest spot, taking the stairs rather than an elevator, and it even has me going up and down my own stairs for 20 minutes every day, just to get my steps in and my heart pumping. I am definitely noticing a difference! I also love that with the Striiv, fitness has become fun rather than a chore. I love the Myland game, and I also love being able to contribute to charitable causes just by getting up and moving. Striiv has become my workout buddy! Which is awesome, because when I am done moving, I don't have to splurge on lunch or a mani-pedi!
I would definitely recommend the Striiv for anyone who is looking for a fun, simple way to get fit. This product is easy to use, loads of fun, and it actually motivates the user to reach for more.
