It seems that every day is full of unexpected surprises, some of them very humorous indeed. A lot of the most memorable stories have to do with food. It seems I have tons of stories about my kids doing or saying funny things while they're eating! For example, my 3 year old, Sophie, LOVES guacamole. She would eat it by the bowlful if I let her. For the longest time, she couldn't pronounce guacamole, so she called it "Bock-A-Boo-Eee". Of course no one could understand her but us, so when she started shouting "I want Bock-A-Boo-Eee" at the grocery store, we got plenty of puzzled looks from other shoppers. My son, Xander, is 2. And he is a little spitfire, that's for sure. I truly think he gives the term Terrible 2's a whole new meaning. Usually, he is resistant to trying new things. If we offer him a food he doesn't recognize, he makes the meanest little face. I mean it's almost like his eyes could burn a hole in you! And he curls his little lips into a nasty snarl, and says "No. I'm DONE. I'm DONE!" If he weren't so little, I'd be pretty intimidated! Well recently, we were very insane...oops, I mean brave...and decided to take the kids out to a nice restaurant for a family dinner. We have a great little Italian place here in town, and they're family friendly. So Xander decided that he didn't want to eat his spaghetti and meatballs. He just wanted to eat the lemons and limes that garnished our drinks. Believe me, I was a bit afraid there would be a meltdown when he realized how sour these fruits were. To my amazement, he actually ate them all, without so much as a pucker-face. Then he threw a fit because he wanted more, and our waitress graciously brought him a whole bowl of sliced lemons and limes. If you can't beat em, join em, I suppose! And Xander was very happy with his bowl full of sour fruit! If you're a parent, I am sure you've got some great meal time stories of your own. Mealtime can be quite the challenge, and one that every parent has to face at some point. Feeding challenges don't have to be a pain, though. They can actually be pretty light-hearted and amusing! Did you know that these funny stories can score you some major money to put towards your child's college education? It's true! The awesome folks at Happy Family have a great Facebook campaign called Stories from the Brightside.
