Thank goodness winter is over! I know. It's May. That almost sounds like an absurd statement to make. But here in NE Ohio, we had substantial snow even well into the month of April. (Will I ever get used to Ohio winters? That's yet to be determined.) Anyway, the weather is finally gorgeous here, so we spend a lot of time outdoors. We've got a great deck, a wooden swingset/playhouse combo, a bounce castle, a fire pit, and everything else needed to turn our backyard into the perfect summer hangout.
But what is summer without popsicles? I remember some of my best childhood memories from summer, and most of them involved a frozen, fruity treat on a stick. Nowadays, with all the concerns about GMO's and "round-up ready" produce, parents are paying a lot more attention to product labels. Sadly, frozen treats at the grocery store are often full of additives that we don't necessarily want to feed our children.
That's where the Family Food Stars line from HABA can help! This is a wonderful line of non-toxic, silicone kitchen molds that can be used to make popsicles, cake pops, and more! (Yep. These babies are oven safe!)
I am especially excited about this line because it allows my little ones to experience the simple pleasures of childhood while allowing me to be in total control of the ingredients used in their treats. By choosing organic produce and juices, my kids have a fun treat and I don't have to experience any dreaded "Mommy Guilt."

OUR REVIEW OF THE SILICONE POPSICLE TRAY MAGICA:
We received the HABA Silicone Popsicle Tray Magica to check out for ourselves. This silicone tray is incredibly sturdy, yet flexible, making it perfect for frozen treats and even baked goodies like cake pops.
As you can see, this includes everything needed to make some delicious summer treats. There is the silicone tray that features fun, magical shapes, as well as kid-friendly handles to keep the mess (hopefully) off of your child. I make no guarantees, since on a 90 degree day, popsicles DO tend to drip. Isn't that half the fun, though?
One of the things I love the most about this mold is that it's truly kid-friendly. I had Sophie and Xander help pour their juices into the mold. This was great fun, and they were very proud that they were helping Mommy in the kitchen! The mold itself is fairly deep, so spills aren't an issue. Once we had our popsicles poured, it was time to head to the freezer.
This Mama ain't no fool, so when the popsicles were done, we headed outside to enjoy our frozen treats. Sophie and Xander loved their own special juice blends, and they were all too happy to brag to the neighbors that they made their very own popsicles!
Xander was especially happy with this experience. As the baby of the family, he often feels that he's left out of things because he's the youngest. Well, my 3 year old little man was very proud that he could finally create something himself (with some help from Mommy) that the whole family could enjoy. Who knows? Perhaps I have a budding chef on my hands. Look out, Bobby Flay!
Overall, I am definitely loving the new silicone kitchen molds from HABA. These make creating fun summer snacks a family affair, and of course, the best part? Eating them!
As a mom, I appreciate the simple yet versatile design. The silicone is safe and non-toxic, so there are no worries about any nasty chemicals leeching into the foods, regardless of whether you choose to make frozen treats or baked goodies. Oh, and clean-up is a breeze since these molds are also dishwasher safe.
I think I might just have to add more HABA Silicone molds to my collection. HABA also has some adorable cupcake and cake molds that the kids would just love! To check out their entire kitchen collection, click HERE.
