Since we spend as much time as possible outdoors during the summer, I like to make my yard as beautiful as possible. Which is a feat in itself, since the previous owner of our home didn't maintain the property very well in her old age, since she was quite ill. Our entire yard needs a complete overhaul, to be completely honest. We're getting to it, little bits at a time.
Even though our yard is not "perfect" yet, I still like to dress it up with decorative accents to show our personality. I love garden sculptures, fountains, and other fun outdoor decorations. They really can make a space feel comfortable and homey. Our yards are, in fact, an extension of our homes, and should be treated as such. Some of our best quality time together as a family happens on the deck and in our yard.
This year, I decided to jazz up my backyard a little bit with the help of Oriental Trading. Yes.....THAT Oriental Trading. Shocked? This company offers so much more than party favors and supplies! They've also got wonderful decor for the home, inside and out.
I was able to find some pretty awesome stuff. I mean, super awesome. First of all, I have always wanted a Buddha. There's just something so peaceful and tranquil about depictions of Buddha, and they help create a nice, relaxing space. I always told anyone who would listen that when I finally owned a home of my own, I would have a garden Buddha. And here he is, thanks to Oriental Trading. We named him Fred. He's actually a Buddha Birdfeeder, and bird seed can be placed within his clasped hands and on his lap.
My next fabulous outdoor find is this cute little Frog Prince. See that globe upon his crown? It's actually a solar light. How cool is that?! I love this garden statue so much. It definitely adds a fun feel to our flowerbeds! Now that's a frog I could kiss!
I do not see this exact product listed anymore, but here is a similar frog garden statue to check out if you're interested. Just click here.
Okay. So the next thing I have to show you is just a little bit kooky. What can I say, we're an eccentric bunch of folks here in my house. And we definitely have a sense of humor. So when my husband saw this Bird Feeder Tree Face, he said we had to get one for the big old tree in the backyard. I think it's an Oak, but I'm no botanist, so don't quote me on that!
That's right. My tree has a face. Kind of makes me think of the Ents in the Lord of the Rings movies!
And here it is again, with a closer view. This is actually 3 separate pieces. It's made from a durable resin and is crated to match the characteristics of actual tree bark. It blends in very well, don't you agree? Each piece has a sawtooth hanger on the back. Installation is easy. Just drive some nails into the tree, placed where you'd like the pieces to go. I'd recommend doing the mouth and nose first, and then figure out the eye placement. Ours is a little crooked, but that's because there wasn't a good place on the tree for a nail exactly where the left eye should have gone.
This funny face features eyes that glow in the dark, as well as a place to put bird seed. (In the mouth.) So not only does this add a touch of whimsy to your yard, it also attracts beautiful songbirds of summer.
Overall, I am definitely pleased with my outdoor decor finds from Oriental Trading. The pieces I received are very high quality and really make my yard pop. I also love the fact that the prices are so reasonable, so there's no breaking the bank involved. So when you're looking for affordable ways to spruce up your yard, be sure to check out Oriental Trading. They are so much more than party supplies!
