As the busy mom of 3 equally busy kids, I am always on the go. Whether it's running errands like grocery shopping, going to the park, or attending events and appointments, my days are rarely dull, bland, or boring. Since I am always headed somewhere, I often have my hands full...Literally! Shopping bags, lunch totes, bags filled with my kids' extra clothing or toys to keep them amused...And the list goes on and on.
Since we try to reduce the amount of waste we produce as a family, I often use reusable bags for shopping, packing snacks and lunches, and more. Recently, I discovered a super-convenient, stylish way to carry everything I could possibly need while reducing our carbon footprint. Goodbye, plastic bags! Urban Market Bags come in sets of 3 and 6. They are extremely portable, and come tucked into a cute little pouch. Keep them in your purse or in your glove box, and you'll always have bags ready to use at a moment's notice. Pretty cool, right?
Here's the Urban Market Bags story, as told on their website:
"They saw a need and filled it. Longtime friends, Cindy Goldberg and Kerri Stenson have raised their children together, volunteered, planned events, traveled… and now, they have also turned their attention to bringing a stylish and smart reusable bag solution to market, Urban Market Bags. After years of grocery shopping, driving kids to extracurricular activities, managing household errands, and all other routine happenings, they were well aware of how many bags are needed to get through each day. Being environmentally conscious, and early adopters of reusable bags, but as time went on, those reusable bags became stained, soiled, flimsy, took up too much storage space and were not always conveniently available. One night, their ah-ha! moment happened over a glass of wine in Hawaii, the first state to eliminate plastic bags. Sitting by the ocean and appreciating Hawaii’s efforts to keep it pristine, Cindy and Kerri instantly knew that there is a better way to be environmentally responsible (and look cute while doing it!). So they dug up the design for the original Olive Smart bags (created with mutual friend Stephanie Ashworth), made a few tweaks, and were on their way. Urban Market Bags was born —the only true system that eliminates the hassle of dealing with stains, bulkiness and soiling, and adds efficiency, style and practicality to your life. One drawstring pack, many market bags that are completely washable. It just makes sense."
We received a nice assortment of Urban Market Bags to check out for ourselves. Above, you will see the Rural, and below, there's the Metro collection. Both of these sets come tucked into these adorable pouches, and the only difference between the collections are the colors included.
These eco-friendly nylon market bags have longer handles for slinging over the shoulder - conveniently stored in one drawstring pack that fits in the cupholder of your car or handbag so you'll never forget them when you go shopping or to the grocery store. Drawstring pack is 5’’ tall and 3.5’’ wide. The bags are 26’’ tall and 12.5’’ wide.
Here you can see how big these awesome bags are. They are quite roomy, and will hold a good amount of grocery items inside. Or whatever else you need to carry, of course!
Urban Market Bags are made from Nylon, and are very easy to care for. If they get soiled because something leaked inside of them, simply throw them into the wash. Yep, these babies are machine washable! They aren't flimsy, and are durable enough to carry even bulky or heavy items like melons, canned goods, or milk.
Overall, we're definitely impressed with Urban Market Bags. Not only are they stylish and chic, they are also so incredibly convenient. I love the fact that they come nestled in a pouch for easy storage. I keep one set in my handbag and the other set in my car, so I always have bags on hand when I need them. This allows me to carry anything I need to while eliminating our use of plastic shopping bags.

I mostly just shop for groceries and sewing/craft/decorating supplies. I use reusable shopping bags in a lot of stores, not just the grocery store.

The only shopping I truly *love* to do is gift-shopping. It makes me so happy to be out looking for something that will be for someone else--either something to fill a need or something just for the fun of it.

I love to go shopping for toys and games. But I'll use these kinds of bags for groceries. I prefer not having a ton of plastic bags around the house after shopping.
