I don't know about you, but in the summer, my skin goes a bit haywire. The heat and humidity definitely leaves my skin parched, and to be honest, it drives me more than a little bit nuts. I am blessed with a decent complexion, but something about the heat of summertime causes me to get weird, dry patches, mainly on my cheeks and the bridge of my nose.
Now that I am in my 30's, I pay a lot more attention to what goes into my body. Or, in this case, on to my body. So many products out there are laden with a ton of chemicals and ingredients that I can't pronounce. And if something sounds more like a science experiment than a product meant for human use, I tend to run as fast as I can in the other direction.
This summer, I am putting my best face forward with the help of Weleda. This company has been around since 1921, and is a leader in the skincare industry. They take great pride in offering products that are not only effective, but eco-friendly, too. Weleda uses natural and organic, sustainable ingredients.
In fact, their Almond Soothing Facial Care Line is hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, and formulated specifically for those with sensitive skin. Oh, and I should mention that these products are also non-GMO, dermatologist tested and approved, and certified natural by the European organization, NaTrue.
I received a couple of these products to check out for myself, the Soothing Cleansing Lotion and the Soothing Facial Oil. The first thing I noticed about these products, even before using them, is the natural goodness that goes into them. These products are made from organic Spanish almonds, and are rich in Omega-6 fatty acids and Vitamin E. This is a powerful combination that helps to gently restore balance to skin that has been battered by sun, stress, and even poor dietary choices. They also help protect the skin by strengthening the skin's barrier against environmental stressors.
I really am quite impressed by these products. The Soothing Cleansing Lotion is creamy, easy to apply, and has a wonderful, natural almond scent. (Don't worry....There are no added fragrances and the delicate scent comes directly from the almonds themselves.) This cleansing lotion is packed full of nutrients that the skin craves, like fatty acids, Vitamins A and E, Sweet Almond Oil, and Plum Kernal Oil. This wash leaves the skin feeling clean and beautifully hydrated. I think I have seriously found my new favorite facial wash. That's saying a lot, too, since my husband calls me the "Beauty Hoarder" since I have SO many different beauty, hair and skincare products.
I also really love the Soothing Facial Oil. At first, I was a bit worried that this product would leave my skin greasy or shiny, but that is not the case at all. This oil absorbs into the skin very quickly and leaves my face soft and moisturized. There is no residue or "funky feeling" at all. This formulation is balances and soothes sensitive skin thanks to high quantities of antioxidants and vitamins A and E. Organic blackthorn flower extract, high in skin-toning tannins and vitamin C, which help to protect and strengthen your skin. I do have to say, a little bit goes a long way with this product. All you need is a few little drops to cover the entire face and neck.
Oh, and this is a great treatment for areas prone to fine lines and wrinkles, like around the eyes and even those pesky laugh lines. No, it won't get rid of existing wrinkles, but it does help to "plump" the skin up by moisturizing, and these imperfections may become less noticeable. Pretty awesome, right?
Overall, I would definitely recommend Weleda's Almond Soothing Facial Care to anyone looking for a gentle, effective skincare regiment that's made from the best ingredients that Mother Nature has to offer. I am in love with this line, and I think you all would be, too!
