Which means I had better get my behind to the store to get his school supplies this weekend. We've been so busy that supply shopping has somehow got put on the back-burner till the very last second. Eeeek! Of course we want to make the most of what little summer is left, so we decided to have a little impromptu party for the kids. We didn't do anything too fancy. We just picked up some WONKA™ Peel-A-Pops, some "Wonkafied" treats I made, and headed for the deck. You know. Because I am not crazy enough to give my preschoolers anything gooey and melty indoors if I can help it! So what exactly are WONKA™ Peel-A-Pops? Well, these ingenious creations are something that could only come from the WONKA™ factory. My kids actually believe that Oompa-Loompas made them. I don't have the heart to burst their little bubbles, so Oompa-Loompas it is! WONKA™ Peel-A-Pops are frozen treats with a special surprise. Upon first glance, they look like your ordinary frozen pop. However, they're so much more than that! These fun treats come in grape and banana, and you can actually peel the "skin" back, revealing a creamy vanilla ice cream treat inside. Think of how you peel a banana. That's basically the same way you peel a Wonka Peel-A-Pop! Pretty cool, right? I have to admit, my kids were being very, very naughty on the day of our WONKA™ Peel-A-Pop Party. I found myself secretly hoping that one of them would magically transform into a blueberry while eating their treats. Of course this doesn't happen in the real world, unfortunately. That would be quite the site! Of course I didn't wish for a permanent "berry baby", just long enough to diffuse the fighting that had been taking place all. day. long. I quickly prepared a platter with fresh fruit and WONKA™ Peel-A-Pops and headed out to the deck. Of course all the fighting ceased, and I was soon followed by 3 very curious children. They immediately started begging for a popsicle. I HAD to have fun with them a bit, and told them there were no popsicles in the house. After all, these treats are Wonka Peel-A-Pops, not popsicles! After seeing the sheer confusion on their faces, I told them all about WONKA™ Peel-A-Pops and how these frozen treats are anything but ordinary. The kids quickly grabbed their Peel-A-Pops, and had so much fun peeling them away to reveal the ice cream inside. My 3 and 4 year olds didn't get it immediately, but after seeing their teenage brother peel his "skin" back, they quickly followed suit. My kids absolutely loved WONKA™ Peel-A-Pops. The combination of grape or banana paired with creamy vanilla was definitely a hit. The fact that they got to play with their food for once? Even better! That's the fun behind the WONKA™ brand, of course! After we got done eating our Peel-A-Pops outdoors, I had another surprise up my sleeve. I decided to make another treat, only "Wonkafied" I made some simple peanut butter candy balls, but I added some Rainbow Nerds to the mix. These crunchy, peanut buttery balls are delicious on their own, but with the tangy fruity Nerds flavors added, they were truly over the top delicious. Oh, and they only took about 10 minutes to prepare. Would you like to make some Peanut Butter Nerds Bombs? (That's what the kids called them!) Here's the recipe: Ingredients:
