While most of my G is for Green features have focused on baby and fashion, you can also go green with your beauty routine! I love
eco-friendly, "safe" cosmetics for a number of reasons. First of all, cosmetics made from organic ingredients are better for the skin. They contain pure, natural ingredients that the skin craves, and are free of harsh chemicals that no one could pronounce even if they tried. I do my best to stay away from parabens, pthalates, and sulfates when it comes to my cosmetics. In my opinion, going green and natural is common sense.

Also, I love the feel of natural cosmetics. They tend to be more gentle, since nothing artificial is there to clog pores and cause irritation. I have also noticed that natural cosmetics provide great coverage while offering a lighter feel, allowing skin to breathe as it should. No one wants to feel like their make-up is caked on. Make-up should enhance a woman's natural beauty rather than cover it up.

One company I am loving right now is Honeybee Gardens. This cosmetic company offers a wide range of products from make-up, hair and body care, make-up tools, and even a great line made specifically for men. What makes Honeybee Gardens so special is that they utilize high-quality, organic ingredients in their products. Here is a bit more about Honeybee Gardens, from their website:

"Since 1995, Honeybee Gardens, Inc. has operated under one simple concept, "Create pure, all-natural bath and body care products made from only the finest organic ingredients, offer them at a reasonable price, and treat every customer like a friend." Along the way, we've managed to do some things we're very proud of. For starters, under no circumstances do we do animal testing, our packaging is made from 100% recyclable materials, and our raw material suppliers practice responsible harvesting.

But Honeybee Gardens, Inc. also takes pride in the communities in which we operate. We contract with a retail order fulfillment center that provides jobs to the physically challenged. One of our contract packagers provides jobs to mentally challenged individuals. Our soap company in Western Pennsylvania provides sample and production overruns to area charities and shelters for abused women and children, as well as the homeless. Profits on sales from our new "Cherokee" lipstick color go to support Native American festivals and charities. And since Honeybee Gardens, Inc. contracts with manufacturing facilities across the entire US, our growth (roughly 300% annually for the past three years) helps provide jobs and supports local economies nationwide.

We're not your typical cosmetics company. We don't make products that follow the hottest new trends. We don't make false advertising claims or try to convince you that our products can perform miracles. All we do is make really good products made from really good ingredients that really work. That's it. We try to satisfy the real needs of real people. Oh yeah, we have really great customer service too."

The awesome, friendly folks at Honeybee Gardens sent me one of their best-sellers, Luscious Lip Gloss, for my review. I am a huge fan of lip glosses, especially during warmer months. They aren't as heavy as traditional lipsticks, and they offer a wonderful shine. I also love that lip glosses are moisturizing and don't seem to dry my lips out like many lipsticks do.

Here is more info about Honeybee Gardens Luscious Lip Gloss:

Enriched with Vitamin E , cocoa butter, olive oil and shea butter, our new paraben-free lip gloss is super-moisturizing. It provides long-lasting shine without the stickiness of conventional lip glosses. Available in five luscious lip-smacking flavors and great neutral shades to enhance any skin tone.

I chose the saucy Viper shade. This shade is a deep, wine color that is universally flattering. Don't let the picture fool you. It looks much darker in the tube than it does on the lips. This lip gloss gives a nice pop of color, but is sheer enough that it isn't at all overpowering. It also has a nice shimmery effect that I love.

Take a look! I have a photo of the tube and one on my hand, to show an accurate representation of the color and shimmer.

Overall, I am really loving my Luscious Lip Gloss from Honeybee Gardens. It's light, long-lasting, and doesn't have a sticky feel to it at all. It gives a nice hint of sheer color and a whole lot of shine. I also love the scent of it! (Yes, I am weird and smelled the lip gloss!) It has a pleasant, sweet, almost herbal aroma to it that is not the least bit offensive. Have you ever smelled traditional lipstick? It has an odd, almost chemically smell to it that I have never been too fond of. To me, smell matters, no matter what the product is. If something smells "off", I don't want to put it onto my skin.

I couldn't be happier with my experience with Honeybee Gardens, and I plan on purchasing more of their organic cosmetics. With so much to choose from and in so many great shades, I could build a whole natural make-up kit at a very reasonable price. I especially love the look of their new Palette Collection! I would definitely recommend Honeybee Gardens to anyone who has been curious about natural, organic cosmetics. These products are amazing, and are offered for prices that are comparable to what you probably already spend on traditional cosmetics.
