![]() Who loves fluff? I do, I do! Making the decision to cloth-diaper my babies is actually what started us on our path to making greener choices for our family. The decision to cloth-diaper came mostly out of necessity, at least initially. You see, we're a one income family and we had just had our daughter when we found out we were expecting again. My babies are almost exactly 12 months apart in age. Keeping 2 babies in disposables would have been far too expensive, so we started looking into cloth-diapering instead. Reusable=Money Saved. Once I actually started using cloth, I fell in love with it. Not only is it far more economical than disposables, it's better for the environment and for baby, too! Did you know that it can take up to 500 years for a disposable diaper to biodegrade? That's a LONG time! Not to mention, disposables have chemicals in them that seep into the soil, affect our waterways, and even irritate baby's delicate skin. Cloth is free of chemicals, gentle for baby, and can last for many years and be used on multiple children. If you stop and think about it, using cloth is a no-brainer! I am always on the lookout for great cloth-diaper retailers. Recently, I discovered Greenie Beanie Bottoms. This is a wonderful online boutique that caters to all things cloth. They even offer a great intro to cloth-diapering, taking the guesswork out of cloth for new users. Greenie Beanie Bottoms also carries some of the absolute best and most trusted brands on the market, including Knickernappies, Oh Katy, Tiny Tush, Wahmies, and more! There is a staggering selection, so you're sure to find the perfect diapers and accessories for your baby. From diapers to wet bags to personal care products, Greenie Beanie Bottoms has all of your eco-friendly needs covered. They even offer FREE SHIPPING on ALL ORDERS! Now that's something you just don't see everyday! The awesome, friendly folks at Greenie Beanie Bottoms sent me a Tiny Tush Elite 1.1 OS Pocket Diaper for review. I chose the Star Spangled Snap print, which is beautifully gender neutral as well as patriotic! I was really excited to review this diaper, since Tiny Tush is one of the few brands I hadn't tried yet. The diaper arrived lightning fast and was very well-packaged. I felt like a kid at Christmas opening it. Yes, I really do get very excited by "fluffy mail". Once I had my Tiny Tush Elite 1.1 unwrapped, I fell in love with it immediately. The diaper is very well made, super soft on the inside, and features a reverse envelope opening to keep messes out of the pocket area. This is ingenious, since it's no fun finding a stray turd in a diaper when you're unstuffing it. Yes, this can actually happen. One time, I was pulling an insert out of a pocket diaper and had poop fly out and hit me in the face. Talk about gross! Anyway, speaking of pockets, the pocket opening on the Tiny Tush Elite 1.1 is very wide and can even accommodate my husband's hand with no issues. Anything that makes it easier for Dad to change diapers gets major brownie points in my book! The Tiny Tush Elite 1.1 is also highly adjustable and can fit babies from 7-35lbs with ease. There are 4 rows of rise snaps, so you can be sure to get the perfect fit, even on the tiniest of babies. This is wonderful, since it allows the diaper to grow with your child all the way to potty-training! Another thing I love is the fun, vibrant colors and prints that Tiny Tush offers. My Star Spangled Snap diaper has a beautiful royal blue background and is adorned with cheery red and white stars. Take a look! Now let me show you the different rise settings. The largest setting is shown above in the front view. The Tiny Tush Elite 1.1 has a soft, micro-fleece inner and comes with 2 sized microfiber inserts. The small insert is great for smaller babies while the large is perfect for older babies and toddlers. You can add extra inserts in the roomy pocket for added absorbency, if desired. Now that I've told you all about the features of the Tiny Tush Elite 1.1 One Size Pocket Diaper, let me tell you how it held up on my babies. I tested this diaper on both of my toddlers during the day as well as overnight. Here are my results. ![]() TEST BABY ONE: Xander Age:15 months 20lbs I tested the Tiny Tush Elite 1.1 on Xander first. Xander is about 20lbs, so I chose the mid-rise setting and got the perfect fit on him. He has a very skinny little waist, so finding the best fit can be challenging at times. I tested first during the day. Xander is just starting to run and climb, often chasing his sister, so a diaper staying in place is very important. I have had the babies experience "diaper wedgies" before, and this leads to leaks and messes. I was happy to see that this diaper stayed put very well, and contained messes perfectly during daytime use. Night time is a whole different ballgame when it comes to my little man. He tends to have massive blow-outs in his sleep. He has even woken up with poop up his back and down his thighs. Not a pleasant experience for baby or for Mommy! I chose to use 2 inserts for overnight use. Better safe than sorry, right? When Xander woke up in the morning, his sleeper was dry, and there were no leaks. The Tiny Tush Elite 1.1 even contained his poop! So overnight, this diaper is definitely a decent choice. ![]() TEST BABY TWO: Sophie, Age:2 28lbs My Sophie is a whirlwind of terror in a cute little package. She is constantly on the go, and loves jumping, climbing, running, and spinning. Just watching her makes me want to take a nap! She is also a heavy wetter, both during the day and at night. I tested the Tiny Tush Elite 1.1 on her during the day first. I chose to use 2 inserts. On Sophie, I didn't need to adjust the rise. At 28lbs, she takes the largest setting. Sophie wore the diaper for about 2 hours. During this time, she drank a ton of milk, ran around, and scaled our furniture. (I did mention she's nuts, right?!) Anyway, those diaper wedgies I spoke of? She's the one who usually ends up with them. She only experienced a small amount of "cheek creepage" with this diaper, and only when she was trying to climb. It actually corrected itself when she put her leg back down. Overall, not too bad! The diaper also didn't leak at all, even though it was about 5lbs when it was time to change her. Like I said, she is a very heavy wetter. I would definitely give the Tiny Tush Elite 1.1 a thumbs up for daytime use. If it can stand up to Sophie, it must be good! I also tested this diaper on Sophie overnight. I again opted to use 2 inserts. When Sophie sleeps, the floodgates tend to open. This can sometimes result in a cold, wet child in the mornings. The Tiny Tush Elite 1.1 did pretty well, overall. When Sophie woke up, her PJ's were dry. The diaper itself did have a tiny bit of dampness around the leg gussets, but it wasn't significant, and it didn't cause red marks or irritation on Sophie's thighs. It held up much better than some of our other diapers do. Overall, I am quite impressed by the Tiny Tush Elite 1.1 from Greenie Beanie Bottoms. This diaper is well-made, adorable, and is definitely effective against leaks. I love the multiple rise settings and the softness of the inner. I can't wait to try some of Tiny Tush's other products, like their brand new Elite 2.0! I especially love the Amore and Dazzle prints!
