![]() I am constantly looking for nutritious, tasty snacks for my kids. Hey, someone needs to help counter-balance the damage their Daddy does by giving them random cookies and cakes when I'm not around. He thinks I don't know about this, but Mothers know everything, right? Just like he thinks I didn't know about the ice cream he left out on the counter overnight. If he'd have been more thorough cleaning it up, he might have fooled me. The tell-tale mint green sticky goo hidden under the Foreman grill gave it away. Yep, that is what I woke up to this morning. Anyway, I am passionate about feeding my kids foods that taste great but are also good for them. I love fresh fruits and veggies, organic cookies and crackers, and farm fresh cheeses. Yum! Developing healthy eating habits at a young age is so important, and I want to give my kids the best possible start. That's why I was so excited to learn about the brand new Funny Face Dried Cranberry Snacks that are hitting the market! These snacks are made by the Decas company, a trusted leader in the cranberry industry, and come in some kid-friendly flavors like Rootin' Tootin' Raspberry, Choo-Choo Cherry, Goofy Grape, and Freckle Face Strawberry! Funny Face Dried Cranberry Snacks are kosher, and come in recyclable packaging. The cranberries themselves are gluten-free, but are processed in a plant that does handle wheat products, so there may be trace amounts of gluten found. Also, these are processed in a facility that handles nuts. Just a heads up for those with allergies or sensitivities. Now I will be completely honest. I do not like cranberries at all. My kids on the other hand LOVE them. I do take a cranberry supplement everyday because they have some amazing benefits. The health benefits of cranberries are numerous and cutting edge research is unearthing new data on a regular basis. Cranberries contain nature’s most powerful antioxidant, proanthocyanidins Type A which are unique to cranberries. This compound has antioxidant and anti-adhesion properties which have been shown to help fight certain harmful bacterial. So when you hear that cranberries are healthy for urinary tract health, it’s because they prevent bacteria from sticking around inside your body and growing to cause infection. Only .7 oz. of dried cranberries has the same benefits as drinking an 8 oz. glass of cranberry juice with 27% juice! So cranberries are something I definitely feel good about serving to my family, even if I don't particularly care for them. I will say that I am a very picky eater, though, and there are loads of things I don't eat. (eggs, onions, most seafood, sweets, pumpkin pie, turkey, and the list goes on and on and on....) I don't force my weird food quirks onto my kids though, and for this, I am sure they're grateful. The awesome folks over at Funny Face sent me a great swag bag full of yummy cranberry snacks, balloons, a t-shirt, beach ball, stickers and lots more! My kids were so excited to play with all of the neat extras, and they were even happier to devour the Funny Face Cranberry Snacks! We received the Freckle Face Strawberry and the Choo Choo Cherry to try. The first thing I noticed was that these dried cranberries were much moister, plumper, and larger than most of the dried cranberries I have seen on the shelves. A lot of dried fruits get leathery and dried out. This is not the case with Funny Face Dried Cranberries! They are very juicy and have a wonderful consistency to them. They remind my son a lot of other, less nutritious fruit snacks available for kids. He also said that the addition of different natural flavors was a hit. My kids really loved the Freckle Face Strawberry and the Choo Choo Cherry. I served the strawberry flavored snacks as-is, but I found a more creative use for the cherry ones. I made oatmeal cherry-cranberry cookies! Yum! That's the great thing about Funny Face Dried Cranberry Snacks. They're incredibly versatile! Check out some recipe ideas HERE.
Overall, Funny Face Dried Cranberry Snacks are a HUGE hit in my household. My kids love these sweet, juicy treats more than the "junk" their Dad sneaks to them. I am officially declaring a Mommy victory here! Funny Face gives my children the taste they love and I can breathe a sigh of relief knowing these treats are as nutritious as they are delicious!
