***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review. No other compensation was provided, and all opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** ![]() My little girl may only be 3 years old, but she is quite the fashionista already. She has a very distinct style, and will even protest if I pick the wrong color outfit for her to wear on any given day. Sophie is outspoken about what she likes, and she has the uncanny ability to accessorize. She tries to claim my scarves, hair accessories, and even my purses, as her own. She even matches them to her outfits. (I think I am going to have a little shopping monster in a few years! Better hide our credit cards now!) So when the folks at Flying Buttress approached me about their exciting new line of handbags, tech sleeves, and lunchboxes for girls and tweens, I was very excited. Sure, Sophie is a bit young for their targeted market, but my little diva is 3 going on 16. About Flying Buttress : "With a background in architecture, a love for children, a hefty collection of handbags and youthful minds dedicated to innovation, quality and usability, Flying Buttress Bags was born. We have designed a handbag line that we would buy for our own children, nieces and nephews. We focused on an approach that encourages imagination, sustainability and individual expression. Why did we name our company Flying Buttress? A flying buttress is an exterior arch whose structure allowed for the great soaring, light-filled Gothic cathedrals of medieval Europe. Not only did these arches provide the structural support needed, they provided a unique beautiful feature. Just like these arches, the Flying Buttress panels snap on to provide support and decoration to the Flying Buttress handbags, totes, tech cases and lunch bags. The concept is a system of five bags with over 40 different styles of panels that snap onto each of the bags. All panel styles fit onto all bags so the look of your bag can be easily and quickly changed. This concept rewarded Flying Buttress with a nod as one of the “Best Gifts for Kids” for Holiday 2012 from Entrepreneur Magazine." Our Review : The awesome folks at Flying Buttress sent me their fun Booie Bag, along with some of their fun panels to try for ourselves. The bag itself is a durable, high-quality denim fabric. It has glistening silver thread for added style, and comes with an adjustable strap. The body of the bag features 4 snap areas so various panels can be added. This is very unique, since it allows girls to have several different looks in just one bag. The snaps are very heavy duty and secure, so panels won't come flying off. They stay in place until you're ready to switch them. The interior of the bag is roomy enough to carry all of a gal's must haves. There are also 2 pouch-style accessory pockets and an interior zipper pocket. And of course, she will love the allover Flying Buttress logo inside of the bag! Here are the Mona Lisa white panels. This is a durable canvas material that gives girls the chance to decorate their bag in any way they'd like. Whether you use puffy paint, fabric markers, or even iron-on transfers, the possibilities are endless! I used fabric markers and drew some hearts, a flower, and my daughter Sophia's name. It was easy to do, and the panels absorbed the ink well with no bleeding of colors. Yes, I know...I am no artist. But my daughter loves it, anyway! Here is the oh-so-chic Ali panel. This is a soft, fuzzy leopard print that is sure to turn heads. This panel looks great against the dark blue denim in the Booie bag, and is definitely a fun look. Animals prints are all the rage right now, so carrying a Flying Buttress bag with the Ali panel is a great way to take part in this trend without having animal-print overkill. (Have you ever seen someone in head to toe leopard print? Eeeek!) Another great panel option is the Emily. This is a fun, funky shimmery sequin panel with a black sateen background, which is perfect for outings at the mall with her girlfriends, or even a nice dinner out on a date. (If your daughter is allowed to date...Mine will never, ever be, if my husband has anything to say about it!) Isn't this adorable?! Overall, I absolutely love the concept of Flying Buttress bags. This is very creative, and also helps to eliminate waste. Rather than tossing that old bag because it's no longer in style, you can revitalize the appearance of your bag in a snap...literally! Also, these bags offer a great way to maximize closet space since all you need is one bag, and the additional panels don't take up much room at all. So if you're looking for a fun, unique gift for the girls in your life, be sure to check out Flying Buttress. These bags are fashionable, affordable, and girls will love changing the panels along with their moods! Why didn't someone think of this sooner?!
