We all know by now that I am completely fluff-obsessed. I made the switch to cloth well over a year ago when we discovered we were pregnant AGAIN when my daughter was only 3 months old. After the absolute horror...oops, I mean shock wore off, we realized that we had to find ways to save money. So of course, the first thing that had to go were disposable diapers. This was not a decision we made lightly, either. We, like many others, had our skepticism when it came to cloth. Would they be horridly stinky? Hard to use? Hard to clean? Would we be stuck battling squirmy babies and trying desperately not to poke them with oversized and old-fashioned diaper pins? Luckily, the answers to all of the above questions turned out to be a resounding NO. There are a lot of common stereotypes regarding cloth diapers that are totally and completely false. Cloth is NOT stinky...Okay...Maybe they ARE stinky. All poop-filled diapers stink. But I have found they are less stinky than disposables, probably due to the lack of chemicals in the diaper itself. I have found that disposables tend to amplify nasty odors, and since switching to cloth, my babies smell like BABIES rather than on odd concoction of artificial fragrances mixed with urine. (Not pleasant!) Are cloth diapers hard to use? Not at all! Modern cloth is nothing like the prefolds and rubber pants my Grandma used to use. Of course, prefolds and covers are still used and I happen to love them, but they are nothing like their old-fashioned predecessors. I prefer pocket diapers, which are a lot like disposables in function. You simply stuff inserts into the pocket, and put the diaper on baby. Boom, ready to go! No pins, no hassle! Are cloth diapers hard to clean? Nope! Sure, you have to use special detergent that is dye and fragrance-free, and they do require extra rinse cycles, but it really is not bad. And if you unstuff the diapers and throw them into either a wet-bag or washable pail liner, all you have to do is dump them into the washer, toss the wet bag or liner in with them, and start the laundry cycle. No need to mess with dirty inserts that have been sitting! AND cloth is better for the environment and for baby, too! Cloth diapers help reduce waste in the Earth's already overflowing landfills. Plus, babies in cloth get less rashes since there are no nasty chemicals against their delicate skin! So as you can see, cloth-diapering is not as scary as the images you may have of it. In fact, cloth can be quite addictive! With all the wonderful fabrics, colors, and prints, you just may have to join a 12 Step Program for fluff addicts! I know I love seeing my Babies with FluffyRumps! Speaking of FluffyRump....They are my latest sponsor! FluffyRump is an awesome online retailer of all things fluff-related! This family owned company is based out of sunny, beautiful Puerto Rico! (So jealous!) They carry tons of wonderful green products like cloth-diapers, wet bags, cloth wipes, and even feeding supplies! FluffyRump only carries the best brands like Rockin' Green, FuzziBunz, Planet Wise, Bummis and GroVia. This is literally a one-stop shop for all of your baby's diapering needs! I was lucky enough to receive a FuzziBunz OS diaper in Tootie Frootie and CJ's BUTTer in Coconut Lime Dream for my review. Take a look! I was quite excited about receiving a FuzziBunz for review. This, like GroVia and Bummis, was a brand I have never had the pleasure of trying before! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw how incredibly adjustable the FuzziBunz OS diaper is. It features a wonderful adjustable elastic system on the legs and the waist. All you do is slide the button into the proper hole on the elastic, and you're good to go! And to my delight, the holes are numbered, which makes finding the perfect fit an absolute snap, even for clumsy husbands like mine! So the FuzziBunz will provide a flawless fit for babies between 7-35lbs. They even include extra elastic bands so should yours break, you can easily replace it, no sewing necessary! This is GREAT for me, since I cannot sew! I also noticed that FuzziBunz includes not one, but TWO inserts with their OS diapers! A smaller one for the tinest of bums and a larger one so the diaper can grow WITH your baby! I actually use them both to double-up for overnight use. I also love that this diaper is a snap diaper, with strong, durable snaps that my daughter can not undo. She loves to be naked all of the sudden, and tends to pull her velcro closure diapers off and wave them around like a lasso. I tested this diaper on both babies, for both day and night time use. Before I get into my opinion of the FuzziBunz OS Diaper, I want to tell you all about the CJ's BUTTer in Coconut Lime Dream. Oh. My. Gosh. I am in LOVE with this product! Not only does it smell good enough to eat, (and I am all about products that smell good) it is all natural, super effective and cloth diaper safe. I recently expanded Xander's solid food diet, and sometimes as I introduce a new food, he gets a slight rash on his bootie. So many creams are not cloth-friendly, so I have either had to use disposables during these minor rashes or use my regular cream with liners and pray it wouldn't come into contact with my diapers. With CJ's BUTTer, I don't have to worry at all! This awesome cream not only cleared up his rash, it left his skin feeling super soft! My 11 year old also used this product on some chafing he got while riding his bike. It did wonders for him as well! (Although I will admit, he felt odd using a "baby product" on his skin.) CJ's BUTTer is absolutely fabulous and can be used for a variety of applications from diapering to minor skin irriations to more persistent issues like eczema, psoriasis, and more! It can even be used for ethnic hair care! How cool is that?! This is definitely a must have product in my opinion, and I am so grateful to the wonderful folks at FluffyRump for introducing me to it! Now onto the diaper, since I got my love for the CJ's BUTTer out of my system! I cannot say enough good things about the FuzziBunz OS Diaper. Not only is it very well-constructed, it is also so easy to use. I tested the diaper on Sophie, who is 19 months old and weighs 25lbs and on Xander, who is almost 7 months old and weighs over 17lbs. I was shocked at how well this diaper fit both children with minimal effort. The adjustable elastic was fool-proof due to its numbered system and was super easy to use. This made diaper changes a breeze! I also love the gorgeous color of the diaper. This is a delicate, pretty shade of sky blue that is suitable for either gender. I know, color has absolutely nothing to do with the overall effectiveness of the diaper, but I happen to appreciate diapers that are aesthetically pleasing as well as functional. The FuzziBunz OS Diaper also performed amazingly well on both children for day and night time use. It did a great job at holding messes in the diaper where they belong, and I didn't experience any leaks at all with either child, even overnight! Sophie tends to be a heavy wetter at night, so I did double-up the inserts, and that worked very well. Xander did well overnight with the FuzziBunz diaper, too! Girls and boys wet very differently, and our FuzziBunz was able to handle my very different babies' wetting habits. This diaper also came clean easily in the wash, and I didn't experience any staining, even after epic Xander explosions! Even after several washes, (I use Rockin' Green Classic Rock) the diaper looks and feels brand new. Overall, the FuzziBunz OS gets an enthusiastic A++ from me! So if you're an experienced cloth-diapering family or just curious, I hope you'll head on over to FluffyRump and check out their fantastic selection of green products. I really love the GroVia diapers but with my next child I think I want to try out the newborm Bummis. It seems like it would be very economical for building a newborn stash. My last baby was so tiny he wouldn't have fit in cloth till he was 2 months old so I really want to get some newborn size diapers! I also didn't know that FluffyRump had a reward program for the money you spend :) that is great!
