As with every other trend, music seems to come and go. While there are some songs that remain classics despite their age, most of the time a song is a hit one year and no one can remember the name of the group the next year or even the words to the song. That leaves most people with a lot of music that they don't know what to do with. Stacks of CDs are piled high and the chances that anyone is going to get them out and listen to them seem slim. Here are five reasons it may be time for you to get rid of your old music.
Make Room for New Music If you need to make some room for more CD’s then now could be the time to get rid of your old music collection. If your CD tower is full and you can't fit another case in the slots, it is time to go through and get rid of some of the things that you aren't listening to any more. Pull out all of the CDs and only hang onto the ones you just can't live without. Just Make Room Even if you aren't planning on buying new CDs, you could still probably benefit from the extra space you'll have once you toss the old stuff. Imagine an entertainment center that doesn't have stacks and stacks of cases that are just sitting there gathering dust. You might find that you love the de-cluttered look of your living room. Make Some Money When you need some extra cash, selling your old music could be the answer. There are websites online that will purchase your CDs, you can auction them off, or you can put them out at the next yard sale. That little bit of extra cash gives you the ability to purchase some of the latest tunes. You Don't Need Them – Upload Them Today, there is no longer a need for the actual CDs. You can upload all of your music and listen to the songs that you know and love over and over again. Depending on how much music you have, this could take a couple of hours or an entire weekend. Either way, upload everything and look for something to do with those old CDs. Take a Step into Modern Day Tunes Is it possible that you are stuck in a rut, listening to songs that are rarely played on the radio anymore? If so, you need to take a step into modern music and put aside the old tunes of the past. Make sure that the songs you are listening to are current. It might be tough, but you will appreciate the idea of out with the old and in with the new in a very real way. Tom Dawson is a seasoned music and media writer. I have an old unopened early Beatles album that I found in the dumpster years ago. I wonder if anyone would buy it.
