Eco-Friendly Holiday Gift Idea: EnviroKid Nap Mat

I am always on the lookout for great green products that are not only high quality, but safe for my kids to use. My son has been complaining for awhile that he didn't have a comfy place to hang out and watch TV or play video games. Sure, we have a couch. He even has a sofa in his room. I think the real issue was that he likes sitting on the floor, and the floor alone isn't comfy enough. I have even caught him trying to use the dog's bed as a chair. Umm, I don't think so!

That's why I was really excited when I discovered the wonderful products over at EnviroKid. Haven't heard of EnviroKid? Let me tell you more about this wonderful, eco-friendly company! EnviroKid, a division of LDI Corporation, is dedicated to providing durable, fun, non-toxic products for families. Their primary mission is to provide environmental, health, and safety solutions; using innovative chemistry and technology to develop more sustainable, less toxic and safer products. Their philosophy is that there is no reason to use products that are damaging to the environment and pose a health threat. LDI has the technology to provide safer alternatives that offer superior performance and competitive cost.

I know as a parent there are so many growing concerns about the materials used to manufacture products, especially when they are intended for children. Remember the big BPA scare? That's not the only harmful substance that goes into products. There are also pthalates, PVC, parabens, and many other substances that are proven to pose a significant hazard as well as cause ill-effects to the environment. EnviroKid products are made without any of these harmful materials and are always safe and completely safe for even the littlest of children.  Now what's not to love about that!?

I was thrilled to receive one of their best-selling products, the Nap Mat, for my review. The EnviroKid Nap Mat is not your ordinary Nap Mat! It is generously sized at 24”x48”, the perfect size for kids! The PVC-Free and Phthalate-Free EnviroKid Nap Mat is available in a variety of soothing colors. (I received the Pear color.) The outer covering is EnviroLeather, PVC-Free Synthetic Leather, which is engineered to adjust to your child’s body temperature quickly, stand up to even the most “active” of children, and be cleaned easily . Easy cleaning is a HUGE plus for me!

When my EnviroKid Nap Mat arrived, I was surprised at how small the package was. I didn't know how a large product could fit into such a tiny box! When I opened it, I found out! The Nap Mat is filled with several small beads, similar to a bean bag chair. They were settled into one side of the Nap Mat. That was no problem at all, though. All we had to do was shake it around a bit, which my 11 year old enjoyed immensely, and the filling became evenly dispersed throughout the entire Nap Mat. It became almost fluffy, and definitely very inviting!

Take a look!

The reverse side is a nice, deep Navy!
Not only is the Nap Mat attractive and durable, it's also incredibly comfy. It forms to the body and provides amazing support for tired little bodies. While it is not memory foam, it does remind me of my memory foam mattress to a degree. The EnviroKid Nap Mat can also be used as a "chair" by putting it upright and allowing the filling to settle to the bottom. Here's Kyle using the Nap Mat as a seat!

I was also quite impressed with how easy it is to clean the Nap Mat. Xander, my 11 month old, loves to crawl all over the Nap Mat. Sometimes his hands are sticky or goopy, and he leaves a trail of goo on the Nap Mat. All I need to do to clean the product is simply wipe it down with a wet rag or even a baby wipe. Easy, peasy! Here's Xander enjoying the EnviroKid Nap Mat!

Overall, I am very impressed with the EnviroKid Nap Mat. This product blows other children's rest mats out of the water! It's comfortable, versatile, durable, and most importantly, it's safe. Since this product is free of any toxic substances, I can rest easy as a mom while my kids rest on the EnviroKid Nap Mat. I also really love the look and feel of the Nap Mat. It is available in four soothing colors, too! For bigger kids, they even offer a truly amazing looking Bean Bag Lounger! For reading, watching TV, or playing video games they even have a kid-friendly Cushion. The folks at EnviroKid really have thought of everything! I would definitely recommend the EnviroKid Nap Mat to families. This would make a wonderful addition to any home, and is durable enough to last for years.
