Earth Day is right around the corner. On Wednesday, April 22, people all over will be celebrating the beautiful planet we live on, as well as learning ways to be kinder and gentler to the environment. One way to get kids into all things green is to read them stories that feature eco-friendly actions. One classic favorite is "The Lorax". Recently, I found another great book for children that teaches about recycling. (It's never too young to start!) In "Pierre the French Bulldog Recycles" by Kate Louise, you will meet Pierre, a friendly French Bulldog, who forgets to recycle one day. He feels bad, because he knows that the things he tossed into the trash won't be transformed into nice, new products. Instead, they will be dumped in our already overflowing landfills. Rather than sit idly by and do nothing about the situation, Pierre is determined to fix his mistake. He chases the trash truck all over town, retrieving these recyclable items.
It's a fun-filled, fast-paced story that truly teaches children about the importance of recycling. I would definitely recommend this book to any parents who would like to get their children interested in preserving our environment. We fell in love with Pierre, and I know your kids will, too! You can order your own copy of Pierre the French Bulldog Recycles on Amazon.
