***Disclosure: I received complimentary samples to facilitate my review. No other compensation was provided, and all opinions are 100% honest and have not been influenced in any way.*** As the "mama" of 3 dogs and 4 cats, pet hair is definitely an issue in our home. 2 out of 3 dogs are hypo-allergenic "wussy dogs", as my husband calls them, so they don't really shed. (Gotta love Shih-Tzus and Yorkies!) Our other pup, Snickers, is a Shepard mix and she sheds like crazy. This, combined with the cat fur that winds up covering every surface in my home, really makes my allergies act up. I literally wake up sneezing and wheezing, and I end up living in some strange, Benadryl-induced haze more often than not. Not fun. Not fun at all. I try and make sure to clean and vacuum as often as possible, but some days are just too busy, and it gets left undone. After all, I am only one person and have only 2 hands, which are usually busy taking care of the kiddos. So missing even a day or two of vacuuming can be the difference between breathing easy and turning into a ball of barely-functioning, itchy snot. Sounds pleasant, right? Those of you with allergies know what I'm talking about though. It is miserable. And of course our pets are valued members of the family, so getting rid of them is not an option. Luckily, I have recently discovered the bObsweep Pet Hair. This robotic vacuum is a mother's helper of sorts, since it handles vacuuming up the pet hair while I cook dinner, change diapers, run errands or blog. All I have to do is make sure the unit is fully charged and then just turn it on and let it get to work. So what is the bObsweep, exactly? Well, it's basically the greatest thing that's come into my life (other than the kids) since I discovered Bruno Mars. And anyone who knows me knows that I am more than a little obsessed with Bruno. This vacuum has made my life so much easier, and even the pets like it! This is a HUGE deal since our dyson makes them retreat in absolute terror! But before I get into my experiences using the bObsweep, I'd love to tell you a bit more about this revolutionary product. Here's more info about the bObsweep, as seen on their website: Our pets are irreplaceable members of our family, without whom life would not be the same. Yet our carpets and floors have not been the same since they walked inside the house. The addition of Bobsweep to your family can ease this dilemma. Dog or cat hair, whether long or short, will inevitably and persistently shed. Pet hair especially has a special magnetic to carpets. Pets do not have shoes to take off before entering the house and their conspicuous paw prints leave guilty trails. Often some of the two legged members of our family have tragic allergies to the pets we love so dearly. Feel confident when a surprise guest enters your abode that Bobsweep will conceal your identity as a crazy cat-lady. Bobsweep's automatic floor-cleaning capacity, together with his extra-large brush, effectively take the hair off your carpets and floors. Bob's side brush will collect the hair from those hard-to-reach corners. Once Bobsweep is turned on or set according to your timetable, he will brush through and clean floors of all types--rugs, carpets, hardwood floors, etc--free of your pet’s hair more easily than a vacuum cleaner. Many of our animals, particularly dogs, do not have a healthy relationship with traditional, monster-like vacuums. Bobsweep however, has a reputation for charming pets. Bobsweep will challenge your place as their best friend, and they will chase him around as he mops, vacuums and buffs your floors to perfection. Cats love stalking Bob as he glides past and dogs like racing him as he cleans up their flyaway fur. Bobsweep is so cautious he won't collide with your pet and will change his direction before hitting them. Read stories of our customers' experience of their pet's interaction with Bob. Check out this brief video to see the bObsweep in action: Our Review of the bobsweep : If you're thinking that the bObsweep sounds too good to be true, I don't blame you. I thought so, too, before I used mine for the first time. I have always been curious about robotic vacuums, but was quite skeptical about how effective they would be, especially with a house full of pets. Would it really pick up all the dirt, dust and pet hair from our floors? Would it work as well on wood floors as it does on carpet? When our bObsweep arrived, I was eager to get to the bottom of these questions, once and for all. "Bob", as we named him, was very well-packaged and came with everything we needed to get started. Operating the bObsweep is simple. There are controls on the unit itself, or you can use this handy remote control. As you can see, the bObsweep has several different settings, including auto, which we use most often, UV, which sanitizes surfaces using a special ultraviolet light, and Spot, for spot-cleaning. There are also settings that allow you to thoroughly clean stubborn walls edges and corners, and you can also change the speed at which the bObsweep operates. It's pretty simple, and the controls are very self-explanatory. While using the bObsweep, you can simply turn it on and let Bob work his magic, or you can set the unit to operate on a specific schedule. This comes in incredibly handy, especially for those who work outside of the home. Just program the bObsweep, go about your busy day, and come home to clean floors! In our home, we have some carpet, but most of our flooring is hard wood. I was a bit worried that the bObsweep wouldn't be able to effectively transition from one floor type to the other, since our regular vacuum has a tough time of this. Thankfully, these concerns were quickly laid to rest, as the bObsweep does an amazing job going from carpet to wood and back again. This is one "smart" unit, and it intuitively senses your floor type and cleans accordingly. Now for the important question...Does the bObsweep really pick up pet hair as well as my dyson? YES! Even better, in my opinion! I have even gone as far as to conduct a little test. I vacummed my floors using my dyson. Of course the canister had a very good amount of pet hair and debris inside of it. Then I went over the room again, this time with the bObsweep. I really didn't think there would be much pet hair left to pick up. Boy, was I wrong! Take a look at what the bObsweep was able to pull off of my "freshly vacuumed" floors: Yep. That right there is an INSANE amount of cat fur. It was pretty gross, actually, especially considering we had literally just vacuumed the same 24'x28' space with our dyson. I couldn't believe how much pet hair the dyson left behind. I was absolutely shocked, but also delighted to see that the bObsweep had no trouble at all picking up the slack.
Overall, we are completely over-the-moon for our bObsweep. It's so easy to use, easy to clean, and it really works hard to remove all traces of dust, dirt, and pet hair from our home. The kids and pets seem to be rather amused by Bob, too. They love watching him work his way around furniture, and they are always absolutely amazed that he goes around obstacles rather than crashing into them. (I did mention the bObsweep is one smart cookie, right?) And the cats...well, let's just say they like to stalk Bob and even pounce at him as he makes his daily rounds. It's pretty amusing to see! So I end up with clean floors AND some wholesome entertainment! Since we started our love affair with Bob, our home is cleaner, and I am breathing a lot easier. My allergies aren't acting up nearly as badly as usual, and all the surfaces in my home are no longer coated in an odd layer of multi-colored cat fur. While I was skeptical about robotic vacuums before, I have to admit, the bObsweep has made me a believer. I would definitely recommend getting a "Bob" of your own! You'll be amazed by the cleaning power, and you'll be able to keep your own hands free for more important things, like looking at funny cat pictures online. How to Connect : You can purchase your own bObsweep for around $669 on their website. (Yes, it is truly worth every penny!) You can also connect with bObsweep on Facebook, on twitter and to stay on top of their latest products and promotions! How do YOU tackle pet hair in your home? Have you ever considered a robotic vacuum? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
